does anyone else have this? all my user livesets are completely messed up since the last firmware update. I had saved everything to a user backup file before updating. the livesets are totally shuffled at random and can only be deleted and completely redone...very tedious.

I suppose that's the benefit of the "great idea" to omit dedicated banks and memory slots inside a bank on the Montage. The performances are not indexed in a way which would allow the user to access them directly. Therefor they have to be linked to slots in the liveset mode. The other way to finde user performances would be to put them into the favorites or give them a dedicated tag.

You saved everything to a “user backup” file? A User File (.X7U) or a Backup File (.X7A)?
It is recommended that one create a .X7A Backup File prior to updating your MONTAGE to 2.00, (the Backup File saves everything including your installed Libraries and your Song Folder), however, either one would have/should have saved your User “Live Sets”... very unusual. I understand you made a File before doing the update, but, since I spend most of my time engaged with MONTAGE owners, I have found many do not understand how the USER Bank works (case in point: the post made above) there are actually “dedicated Banks and memory slots” but you can be looking right at them and just not see them.

When you Load a file using “Content Type” = USER File, you will receive a warning that you are about to replace all data in your User Bank... this includes all 640 potential User Performances, all 256 User Arps, all 256 User Motion Seqs, all 32 User Curves, 8 MicroTunings, all 2048 User Live Set slots, your Utility settings, and your 3 Quick Setup templates. So you need to ask yourself, “what was loaded in when you made your File?”

In order to not overwrite your current User Bank Data in its entirety (which is what happens when you Load a new User File) you must use the “Library Import” function which allows you add Performance content from an installed Library.

I guess users can be unaware of the dedicated Banks and memory slots, if they are not familiar with how Category Search works or the Data Utility Folders. You can view the contents of current USER BANK in one of two methods:
1) Press [CATEGORY SEARCH] three times to view “User” or touch “Bank/Favorite” then Select “User”... you can now view/search your User Performances. The “default” view lists them in order starting with 001
2) Press [UTILITY] > “Contents” > “Data Utility” > touch the “Performance” Folder, here you will get an accurate count of how many of the 640 dedicated User Bank memory slots you currently occupy. (By the way, there is a Live Set Folder as well)

Sorry, that you have lost your data, but if at some time you actually did save a USER File with your Performances and Live Sets In it, you will ‘suddenly’ and ‘miraculously’ find them all again. We assume that at some point after creating a bunch of Live Sets, you did a Save... find that file.

How often do you Save your work?
Recommended: Everytime you do something new, you should Save... (you can “overwrite” your works in progress file)
Consider saving anytime you see the warning that you are about to replace your entire User Bank by loading a different User File. Make use of MONTAGE CONNECT as a way to archive “experimental” Performances.

I made a .X7A before the update. I can find all my user performances, but the live set pages are completely messed up.

Can you give me a better description of “completely messed up” (not sure how that will translate). Are you seeing “Not Found”? Are you seeing missing slots? Are you seeing slots you did not program? Please be as specific even if just about a single item. Thanks.

Likely a consequence of Yamaha not dotting "i"s and crossing "t"s with respect to the new MSB/LSB assignments. There is already an identified bug in conversion due to an oversight of the implications of the addressing change. It would not be surprising for this issue to show up with other features that reference these addresses such as live set. Sladjan already summarize as much here.

Hi Bad MIster, by all messed up I mean that they are not in order, everything is shuffeled around. I had liveset folders with "my sounds", "my songs" and "from other libraries" and now songs, sounds and from others are mixed and not organized anymore. complete chaos. by the way I think not only the livesets are messed up but also a lot of my multisound performances. I think some parts have been changed since the update. didn´t some people experience this? I remember a thread... well many of my multipart performances sound so weird. I don´t exactly remember all my performances but so many of them suddenly have such awful parts in themthat I don´t think I ever selected those sounds.

not to dreate confusion here, by "songs" as a liveset folder I mean mulitpart performances that are a song with drums and bass etc, I don´t mean recorded midi songs, I´m not confusiong live sets and recorded songs...
myh Jason, yes that is the thread I was remembering but I didn´t really get into it. but now I seem to be affected. if thigs are remapped, then parts within a user multipart performances can be swapped, is that it?
