A second keyboard controller (used my CP1) provides an addition option for Montage part control. I can set a certain channel to control a certain part to separate it out from the whole performance. Just get a Montage 6,7 and 8 to be safe.

Is it true that the Korg Kronos lets you insert 16 parts or sounds at once?? It says 16 simultaneously so does that mean it does 8 more than the montage?

Kronos is kind of a soft synth under a keyboard shell so it should have no problem offering 16 parts simultaneously.

I have a Kronos. As far as the sample playback engine goes, you can have 16 "parts" in a "performance". (Korg calls them "program" and "combination" respectively.) And you can seamlessly transition from one performance to another no matter how many parts it has. But it's not quite an equivalent comparison because a Kronos part can only have two "elements" instead of eight (which korg calls "oscillators"). Though, a waveform on the Kronos can have eight velocity levels.
