Hi Bad Mister ,ok sorry i will try to give more details. the Montage,is like always connected with the usb cable to the computer and the steinberg usb driver
i do not use any cubase or other daw with special in/out asio audio/midi settings. i use the montage audio interface as main audio source for volume controle for computer and montage, i only ave my headphone connected on the montage so no other equipment is connected on montage in or out puts only the usb cable to computer, it always did works perfect but lately now and then the audio signal that comes from computer bounced / breakdown for a couple minutes and comes back again, so there is a interference somewhere in the computer / and the yamaha steinberg usb driver ?? while the direct plug in headphone audio signal stays ok
i did all ready replaced the usb cable, the Montage audio i/o mode settings are set on standard 16 channel 44.100 khz .the main assign & usb L/R is set also on normal + 0 db. direct monitor is on main 127. Again on these settings and it did always work perfect.!! so i not have and can give any more details so far. hoping you can help more with these details . thx in avance grts Ron.

? Why connect to a computer then? Seriously I'm not clear on what you are doing and am now even less clear

That is the longest sentence I've read in many years... I've one question:

What? What's the role of the computer ? Is it running some software.
Please tell me or I'll just put this one under "unknown"

Sounds like he's only using the computer for controlling the Montage volume but I'm not sure why. If you're not running DAW software then don't connect the Montage to the computer. You don't really want to use it as an audio mixing station. BTW I can beat the run-on sentence no problem. 🙂

With this sort of problem - since a computer is involved - it would be good to be more clear on a few configuration and usage items. Do not look at the below list necessarily as something you've left off - although many are.

1. Computer type (manufacturer, model - would also be interesting to know the processor type. ex: Intel 6th gen i5)
2. Operating System (name, version)
3. "Special" Configuration items like virtual machines (like something to run windows on a mac, or ...)
4. Software running on the computer (maybe it's just - for a Windows PC - Windows Audio Mixer) and settings
Keep in mind that CPU resources are limited and perhaps listing even unrelated programs that are running at the same time will help you diagnose the issue. I would isolate and stop running any "competing" programs/processes. On the other side of the spectrum - if your machine goes idle - then perhaps the CPU or USB "going to sleep" can present a problem as well.
5. Hardware configuration (I think you did an OK job of this) - Key pieces of hardware (Montage, usb 2.0 cable, computer) and connections between each piece
but keep in mind, if you have any other USB devices also connected to the computer - and are active - then these competing resources can either saturate the USB controller or bus serving that controller - as one possibility - so even listing your other hardware - or temporarily disconencting it so you isolate only the hardware you want to work together - will be beneficial.
6. Montage firmware revision
7. Steps to reproduce from a computer reboot (setup / actions on computer, setup / actions on Montage - in sequence). Anyone with your same hardware (computer) and software should be able to reproduce the problem.
8. Expected outcome / how outcome deviates
