I just received my purchase of the FW16E firewire, upon installing it, their is plastic underneath it, I was just wondering if am suppose to remove it before installing it or leave it along.

Please leave the plastic in place - it prevents any possibility of shorting the electronics on the FW16E. It is a protective shield designed for use within the Motif XF. LEAVE IT IN PLACE!

And while it is almost impossible to install improperly, as it actually slides in on guide rails, the plastic is there to prevent any critical points on the board from shorting to the chassis. The FW16E can also be used in Rack XS as well, where space is even tighter. It's there for a reason and should be left in place.
