Hi Bad Mister
I bought the Garritan voice library for motif XF,I fallowed the instructions.......in voice mode I go to file and load the library but after it loads I get a message "no sample data ! " . When I go to motif voice library ,after the 3d poano voice wher I used to have rest of all the pianos and other voices (user4)I have now lots of voices but no sound when I play them.and in the voice mode now in motif in the last voice category under music effects in "....." slot I have now all the motif voices ???
What am I doing wrong?
.in voice mode I go to file and load the library but after it loads I get a message "no sample data ! "
This is simply not enough information for us to tell you what you are doing wrong - we can assemble a check list for you. Sorry, but I don't know the Library you speak of, and do not have the instructions that you followed (it would be helpful to recount those here) _ unless the instructions are faulty (it can happen). Please if they are not too much trouble, please list what you did exactly - not only will this potentially reveal what you did wrong, but it is a good practice to see the steps, one by one.
There are two WAVEFORM LISTs in your Motif XF... when you are loading a file that contains new Waveforms, you must determine if the data required to make the file play is already installed to your FLASH board or to your USR (SDRAM) memory... if not, then you need to make a LOAD OPTION setting directing data from the FOLDER of the FILE to the appropriate destination on your FLASH BOARD, or to your SDRAM (USR) memory.
The volatile SDRAM (USR) memory has its WAVEFORM LIST located on the screen as follows:
Press [INTEGRATED SAMPLING]
You arrive at the List of Waveforms 001~128
The semi-permanent FL1 and FL2 memory has its WAVEFORM LIST located on the screen as follows:
Press [UTILITY]
Press [F6] FLASH
You arrive at the List of Waveforms contain in the FL1 Board 0001~2048
You can switch to see FL2 and its 2048 Waveform locations.
In order to load a Library that contains Waveform and Sample data, you must either have FLASH Boards installed or the library must fit into the 128MB of on board SDRAM (USR). Either way, when you LOAD the Library you must direct the Waveform and Sample data to a specific location. In your thread title you mention you are directing them to your FLASH Board in FL1. We assume, that the WAVEFORMS are not on either of the LISTS and that your LOAD OPTIONS in the lower right corner of the FILE screen reads:
USR > USR
*FL1 > FL1*
FL2 > None
Is that correct? The important item is the one in the middle that directs the data from the FILE to your FL1 board. Althogh we have not seen the exactly Library, nor its instructions, that you are attempting to load, it is a good bet that the author of the file used the FLASH BOARD in Slot 1 to create this data. The Slot that the Flash Board occupied when the FILE was made determines which FILE FOLDER contains that critical information (Voices without the proper Waveforms will look normal but will not produce any sound - exactly what you are getting).
The file name (extension) tells you which File folder contains the WAVEFORM and SAMPLE data. For example, if the file name has the following extension:
.n2.X3A = this signifies that there is new Waveform and Sample data, it is contained in the FILE in the folder marked "FL1". This is why you want to route the signal from "FL1 > FL1". The ".n2" denotes that there is NO data for FL2.
If the file has the extension:
n1.X3A = this signifies that there is new Waveform and Sample data, it is contained in the FILE in the folder marked FL2. In this case you would direct the data from FL2 > FL1. The ".n1" denotes that there is NO data for FL1
If the file has the extension:
.n3.X3A = this signifies that there is no data in either the FL1 nor the FL2 folder... if any Waveform and Sample data is included, it is in the folder marked "USR"... and you would need to direct the data from USR > FL1. The ".n3" denotes that there is NO data for either FL1 nor FL2.
This is critical information - so critical, in fact, that we will not proceed with the other steps until you verify this is what you have done.
You should read the instructions and determine just how many new VOICES the library actually is, and in which FILE FOLDER the data is contained. Then you need to determine HOW you are going to load this data. If it is an ALL data file (the "A" in .X3A denotes ALL data)... and you Load it with FILE TYPE = ALL, then you replace all 512 USER Voices, all 32 USER Drum Kits, all 512 PERFORMANCES, all 128 MASTER programs, all 64 SONGS, all 64 PATTERNS, all 256 USER ARPEGGIO... with whatever the author had in their Motif XF when they created the file. Maybe you don't want all of that data...
If the Library does not deliver this many programs - then do NOT load it using the FILE TYPE = ALL. Make sense?
There must be a more efficient way to LOAD just what you need. It is highly likely that no third party company is going to give you all of that programming - most likely you get a Bank of 128 Voices (at maximum). So there is no need to overwrite the other 384 VOICES, 32 Kits, 512 PERFORMANCE, 128 Masters, 64 Songs, 64 Patterns and 256 Arpeggios.
Perhaps you should look to load just the 1 BANK VOICE. Set the FILE TYPE = 1 BANK VOICE or perhaps you want to load just single VOICES...
Let us know (in detail) what you did (What is the LOAD TYPE? How did you set the LOAD OPTIONS in the lower right corner) and what is on your WAVEFORM LISTS currently (How many Waveforms are already installed? How much memory to you have available?).
Hallo
I checked all you mentioned above and it seemed like I did it correctly. I called the motifator shop and they resent me the link to the library download and this time everything works. They said sometimes there is a bug or the download transfer doesn't go properly. In my case I wasn't getting the samples to motif. But second link works.
Thank you
Hmm! Well, the bottom line is you got it working, good!
Remember: Waveforms organize Samples.
Now that you have installed data to your FLASH BOARD, you must make an ALL data file ("with Sample") that backs up your custom Flash Board settings. Keep that ALL data file in a safe place (as it represents a back up of your current custom Library - it is your "safety" copy). From this point on you can set the Load Options for your FLASH BOARD to "FL1 > NONE" and "FL2 > NONE". Because you will not need to wait for the large Sample data to load, the Waveform data includes the information to simply "find" its own Samples.
From this point forward all Files that you create will include your Flash Board's WAVEFORM List. Your everyday working file can be SAVED ("without Sample")... this will make for a much smaller and quicker file. And while it will have the Waveform data, it does not duplicate the big Sample data. It does not have to because your samples are installed on the Flash Boards and that will not change until you either DELETE them or you FORMAT your FLASH BOARD.
Any time you ADD new data to your FLASH BOARD, you will need to update your safety ALL Data File (with Sample).
