Please please add "Velocity" to the control set list. It's an extremely useful and important feature. It's hard to believe that MOTIF XF doesn't have it (unless you can do it with aftertouch???)
"Velocity" does not appear as a Source within the Control Sets, it is found on dedicated pages within the architecture as in the Oscillator block (Pitch Velocity Sensitivity), in the Filter block you'll find Velocity Sensitivity and naturally Amplitude Velocity Sensitivity.
"Aftertouch" is listed as a Source with Control Sets.
Hi Phil,
I asked it because there are many scenarios where in MOTIF XF it is not possible to use velocity as a control source but we can use other control sources. Just to mention that Velocity is way more convenient to use rather than Mod Wheel etc.
One simple case is to control PORTAMENTO time. It's possible to control it via Mod Wheel but not possible to use Velocity as a source. There are many other cases as well. For example insertions effects parameters' cannot be assigned to Velocity (correct me if I'm wrong).
This feature is a standard feature in many VSTs as you know.
I don't follow nor do I agree with your assessment. The fact that you can in certain VSTi does not mean anything or speak to the musical usefulness. It may work for some things and not so well for others. Portamento Time on velocity is limiting in a way I would not put on myself, the MW seems more musically useful I can get Portamento at soft and/or strongly played notes (just saying, just because you CAN assign something to velocity is not always mean it is musically useful). Sure, there could be some very dynamic uses if it were assignable. But no matter, what I stated were the facts, velocity is assignable in many locations within the tone generator's architecture, not in the Control Set.
