Sorry you are having issues with your XF and your FL1024M. Welcome to YamahaSynth!

It is unclear (to me, at least) what it is you are trying to do. Sounds to me like you are trying to load data (and some times Save data to) a USB drive with an error.

If you are confident you are following the correct steps to LOAD the data, and are still not successful we can suggest the following
_ Try downloading the file to a different USB stick. One you know works with your XF.
_ Try loading just one User Bank at a time - (Load TYPE = 1Bank Voice) this will reveal in which section your data is possibly corrupted..

_ If you can still not reach success, then try loading a single Voice from the file. Report your success/failure.

It is clear you are having difficulty, and from your posts, it is also clear you are not consistent or clear about the settings in your attempts.

A read/write error can indicate a serious problem with your memory, whether it is your USB drive or your Flash Board has not been determined.
A "read error" would be the XF failing to read data from your USB drive (easy enough to work around) a "write error" to the Flash Board could indicate a damaged flash board.

A Flash Board Session: Motif XF

Please be patient, try to avoid interrupting the install process. Do not ever attempt to stop or power down the instrument while loading/installing data - this can damage your memory. We are sure you know this, but mention it any way. We assume you haven't but just warning you. If none of the above attempts reach with success, please let us know. We can provide you with a different download.

Hi thanks for the reply , i try every thing the right way with some help on the motifator forum.

I even buy a tested usb (Kingston DT101G2/16GB so i was sure the usb was not the problem. ( other usb's give me the same problems )

I download the Inspiration In A Flash file on the motifator site and also by mail with a link provide by easy sound.

My last attempt was move the fl1024m to slot 2 again the same problems.

I pay alot of money for this 40th Anniversary pack and never did anything strange with actualy i only load max 10 times a libarie.

and didnt get the content that was mentioned on the yamaha site ...... http://nl.yamaha.com/nl/news_events/music_production/motif_40th_anniversary_box/ i got the silver box ?

I will call the store tomarrow because i think i got a bad flash module .

if you can provide a different download i would love to try that.

Thanks Again for your time

Thanks Again for your time

But what happens when you attempt to load as I asked.
We realize you got no help from other websites. But why ask and not follow through on what is suggested?

Assuming you are attempting to LOAD a single VOICE from the InspirationInAFlash.X3A file and you have an FL1024M in slot #1 of an updated Motif XF.

The only setting that matters among the Load Options in the lower right side of the File screen is

FL1 > FL1

Which means data stored originally in Slot 1 will be written to your Flash Board in Slot 1.

Press [FILE]
Set TYPE = voice
Highlight the Inspiration file
Press [ENTER] to open the File
Initially a list of individual Voices in USER 1 will appear. You will notice [USER 1] will light
Highlight a single Voice, target an internal location
Press LOAD

Hi , thanks again.
I am not try to load a single voice i am doing this because you ask me to do the problem is that i can not load the all X3A to the Fl1 board everytime i got the disk/Write error / sample full message.

sorry for asking but did you read the problem because you said i got no help from other websites ? and i just mentioned i did get help from other websites.

Ok so i did this ,

File - Voice
Bank USR1 :001
Natural Grand S6

Load USR - USR
FL1-FL1
FL2-FL2

With The Natural Grand S6 Highlight

Message - Completed

UPDATE :

So i try to load a single bank first the user 2 bank of the Inspiration in a flash file to the user 2 bank of the motif with these settings

Load usr - usr
FL1 - FL1
FL2- FL2

seems like every thing was oke message completed - samples on the flash board so i move on to load the user 3 bank to usr 3 with same settings ..... message completed

Move on to Usr 4 - message 1 : Sample memory full. thats not possible because i only load 3 usr banks to the flash board and there is still enough memory to load the entire bank again ......

So i tried again message : __ Disk or memory read/ write error.

So based on what i see is a bad FL1024M Card......

Thanks for your time really appreciate it.

Hi , can you please answer me it looks like you ignore me...... I've been waiting four days for an answer, and I see that you have other questions answered ...:(

I paid a lot of money for the memory, so a little help would be appreciated.

Thanks Again

Sorry R,
I've been a "little" busy... Launching the new Montage at the Winter NAMM show... I try to get to as many questions as I can while eating lunch, or waiting in airports, etc., and this week I'm being grilled with endless Montage questions for 8 long hours a day. Not ignoring you at all, just a little busy. Other questions I can answer off the top of my head, I'm currently 3000 miles from my Motif XF so you may, on some things, have to wait until I'm in front of one - or you can always call your Yamaha Customer Service desk, if your issue is an emergency.

Loading the "Natural S6" is not loading any thing that uses new Sample data. So this was a very poor test of the system The single Voice should be selected from USER 2, 3, or 4 of the "Inspiration in a Flash" Library.

Press [FILE]
Set TYPE = Voice
Highlight the file
Press [ENTER]
Press [USER 2] to see a list of New Voices from the library! (Select an S700 piano Voice, any one of them will do.)

Loading something from User 2/3/4 would be a valid test.

"Too many samples" is a specific message about exceeding the 8192 samples; and is different from a "Read/Write Error".

The limits of the Flash Board are 1022Mb of data, or 2048 Waveform, or 8192 Samples... Whichever comes first.
A "too many samples" error message could be you directing data from FL1>USR, or some other user error. The ,I its of the internal SDRAM is much smaller than the Flash Boars.

If you wish get a new Flash board, do so - if you are convinced that is what the problem is... but what if it's not the Flash Board? What then?
I'm just trying to save you the frustration (and your local retailer) of replacing something that MAY or MAY NOT even be the issue.

The READ ERROR could be Your File!!!! Or the USB stick you have it on... Drives can have a corrupted region (it is a possibility)!
A WRITE ERROR would indicate the Board.

Please attempt to load a single Voice "S700 for XS" to your formatted Flash Board - let us know.
Loading any of the S700 piano Voices should load 3 WAVEFORMs to locations 0001, 0002 and 0003 (out of the 2048 locations available)
This will load 270 individual Samples (out of the 8192 available locations).

Please let us know.

You are not loading your data properly. That is all. You mention you "load the iiaf file" but you don't mention using which FILE TYPE> Which indicates that you are not making this a significant part of what you are doing. The FILE TYPE which can be set to ALL, ALL without System, ALL VOICE, VOICE, etc., etc., etc... makes a huge difference in HOW the Motif XF loads your data and what will be able to play properly.

So if you want more help with this (and before you return another, perhaps perfectly good FLASH BOARD) let's make sure you know about the File TYPE you have selected when you attempt to LOAD the data.

Not only do you need to be aware of the TYPE but how you have your LOAD OPTIONS for the USR and the FL1 and FL2 set.

Can you look at your WAVEFORM LIST and report what is in memory at this moment?
How many Waveforms are on the List?
How many Waveforms are in your SDRAM?

You can view the WAVEFORM LIST as follows: Press [UTILITY] > Press [F6] FLASH
You can view the Waveforms in SDRAM by: Press [INTEGRATED SAMPLING] scroll through Waveforms in SDRAM

You can direct your LOAD to SDRAM (USR) or you can direct it toward FL1 or FL2 if you have Boards in the slots.

Let us know.
