Hi Guys, I just purchased a Motif XF6 and the seller didn't send me the CD's that go with the Synth, he can't find it. I think I can order the CD I need with the DAW software on it if I can figure out the part number. I tried the Yamaha parts guy, but ended up with the manuals on CD, not the DAW software CD. Can someone pull out their CD for me and read off the part number please? The number for the manuals CD is YC755A0 so it should be something similar. Thanks.
DAW software does not come on a CD. Back when Yamaha purchased Steinberg in late 2004/early 2005 Cubase was already too large for a CD. Back then it hardly fit on a DVD. By the time the Motif XF came out in 2010 Cubase was distributed on DVD-ROM, the only thing that came on CD-ROM was the Reference Manual and the Data List Booklet.
Both CDs and DVDs have gone the way of the Dodo (the large flightless bird, now extinct). Cubase has been distributed via online download for the better part of the last five years. What you will have to do is contact your Yamaha Distributor (listed in the back of the Owner's Manual), tell them your situation... although only the original purchaser of the synthesizer is entitled to the free copy of the entry-level Cubase AI, they may be able to give/send you an ACCESS CODE which will allow you to download the current version of Cubase AI
The problem with CD and/or DVD is they quickly become out dated, I don't know what version was available in 2010, but I'm sure it is non-compliant by now. "Non-compliant" is a computer term for - the computer companies have updated the operating systems and older software either no longer runs or is no longer officially supported. So you will not want any old CD or DVD version of software, trust me.
Contact Yamaha.
OH. OK. Thanks Bad Mister, I'll do that. The older software version may still be compliant, though, I'm running Windows-7 on that computer.
