Apologies for writing in the XF section - looks like my old faithful XS8 isn’t even listed as an option 🙁
I only have one quick question: will there ever be a FW driver for macOS Catalina? The official website will tell you that Yamaha has been testing version 1.7.5 for compatibility since December 2019. The absence of a working driver is forcing me to chose between XS8, which has been a centerpiece of my studio for many years, and the up-to-date version of Logic Pro X.
Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
I have checked with Yamaha Japan and am waiting for a response, but my sense is no, they will not be updating the FW driver anymore. If I get any different information I'll let you know.

Thank you so much for your prompt response! It would be really sad if they gave up on this. XS8 is a phenomenal instrument, and I dread the thought of not being able to use it because of a missing driver...

There is an idea for this on IdeaScale. Even if Yamaha/Steinberg elect not to update it further, that doesn't need to be the end of the line. The source code can be released and community developers can take over. In all likelihood, this would also lead to the long-overdue Linux driver.

I am asking everyone looking for a solution to our FW problem to contact John Melas who created the Motif XS Tools, Motif XF Tools and Montage Tools and see if he has interest in writing a 64 bit control panel so that the driver will work. I know I'd be willing to pay at least $100 to keep my functionality.
