I would like to know a little more about the characteristics of the fw16 e. Specifically, if it have a micro preamplifier like the majority of interfaces. I am recording voices to Cubase with a condenser mic powered with phamtom connected to AD imput of the Motif.
Is it a good solution or would it be better to acquire an interface like AG 3 of yamaha with pre-D amps to record the voices? Would I get higher quality?

We moved your post to the Motif XF forum where it is more appropriate.

You don't mention exactly how you are powering the microphone so a comparison of quality is quite impossible. If you already have all the components we suggest trying it and doing the comparison yourself.

What is the current quality of your recordings now?
How are you setup to monitor yourself when recording with the microphone?
How do you setup a headphone mix? Are you using a separate headphone system?

I assume this is actually a followup to your question in this thread.

The FW16e is not like a standalone audio interface. It has no audio inputs of it's own, it uses the Motif internal digital sound engine. So when connecting external audio...mikes, direct injected guitars, line level sources...you use the existing stereo A/D inputs.

If you are only asking about the quality of the preamp in the XF itself, I think you will find it is good but there are always preamps (and A/D converters) you can buy with superior quality. It's just a question of your budget and your needs. As BM wrote, is there an issue with the recording quality you are getting today?
