Hello,
I used my Motif XF6 until now as a stand alone instrument. But now I want to use it with Cubase 8.5 also to record audio into Cubase. I use a Mac Mini and I would like to use Motif XF Editor. Problem: Recording Audio also with instructions of Motif XF manual, XF Editor Manual and First Steps of Yamaha Synth for XF Editor is not working. The Input "Motif XF VST MIDI In" is not available/selectable in Cubase. See description: "Each new PART you want to use in your multi-timbral Motif XF requires you create a new MIDI track assigned to the Motif XF VST's MIDI IN". In my cubase 8.5 configuration i have only "Motif XF6 Midi In, Motif XF6 Midi Out, Motif XF6 Main and Motif XF6 Remote. These are activated. Iam able to record Midi by using "Motif XF Main" oder "ALL Midi IN" as an input. Can you help me out, please?
Thank you,
Tomghost
I would like to add, that I connect the Motix XF via IEEE 1349 (fw16E) to the Mac computer.
Let's go through the following checklist to see if we can nail down the missing piece.
With the Motif XF powered on and connected to the computer, launch CUBASE.
In Cubase, go to DEVICES > VST INSTRUMENTS > click on "Rack Instruments"
Listed under the EXTERNAL devices find the "Motif XF VST"
When you click on this, you will be asked if you wish to create a MIDI Track for this plugin
Click "Create"
This action will create not only your first MIDI Track, but it should automatically assign it to the "Motif XF VST - Midi In"
As you play on the keys of the Motif XF you show see the keys of the Editors graphic interface respond. With Local Control = Off in the XF, MIDI messages travel OUT via FW to Cubase, arrive at this MIDI Track, which Outputs signal to the VST Editor's MIDI IN, the EDITOR VST, when "Online", has a 1:1 relationship with your Motif XF... And change made to either is immediately making it in the other.
Let us know if you can get this to happen. If not tell us what reaction you get from Cubase.
