Is there any way to control the LFO on the strings sounds, ie the cello. I've tried turninh off LFO but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I've used the yamaha editor and the editor from John Melas with no success. I'd like to be able to control with after touch or mod wheel.

You don't give us the Voice Name, but in all likelihood it is a Voice with the natural vibrato of the player built in, and not an LFO at all. And while there is a non-vibrato violin Waveform in the Wave ROM, I don't recall there being a non-vibrato Cello.
