How do I delete a section of a song including the bars so I don't have empty bars with no content? For example, my song is too long so I'd like to delete from bars 80-100 to shorten.

Welcome to Yamaha Synth!
In the language of the Yamaha synth, DELETE is exactly the word. DELETE removes measures completely and all measures after 'close rank'... meaning the data in Measure 101 would become measure 080, after you DELETE the meausre range. You don't really say but we are going to assume you are in SONG mode - the DELETE MEASURE Job is found in SONG mode.
The word ERASE is used to mean eliminate the data in measures 80-100 and you would be left with twenty-one empty measures starting at 80 and ending after measure 100 completes.
From MOXF SONG mode
Press [JOB]
Press [F4] MEAS (measure)
Select the Job: DELETE MEASURE
On the MOXF: The default setting is 001-001 (which would delete measure 001 completely and cause measure 002 and all subsequent measures to close rank and be renumbered. Set the range as you require - realizing that all measures you set will be removed completely
By setting the range to 080-100 you will be deleting 21 measures.. data in measure 080 through 100 will be removed (including measure 100's data) - measure 101 will be renumbered 080... and all measures after 'close ranks'.
Be sure that you do not need the data in measure 100 - as it is set to be removed when 080-100 is your setting. That's 21 measures, not 20 measures because the data in measure 80 and the data in measure 100 will be eliminated inclusive (just FYI). If you remove too much data, or you have left notes hanging over the transition (join) point... Restore your original using "Undo"
Troubleshooting: remember you can UNDO the most recent EDIT: Press [JOB] > [F1] UNDO
_ Make sure that the end of measure 79 has all the data you need;
_ Move the start point to measure 80 and make sure measure 80 begins cleanly (that is, make sure the downbeat chords or notes hit actually in measure 080, not at the end of measure measure 079, in beat 4);
_ Make sure measure 101 starts exactly correctly. Again that all the downbeat chords and hits are contained and that none are hanging out at the end of measure 100.
Trouble happens when there is data that overlaps or begins just prior to a measure line... at those critical 'join' points. There is no guarantee that the end of measure 79 will go smoothly into measure 101. If you need help editing the data at these measure points let us know.
Hope that helps... If you are in PATTERN mode, let us know.
