Hi,
Soft pedal problem for the piano
I set Assignable Foot switch with soft option
but it doesn't work in any mode including Voice
tried 3 different pedals
do you have any suggestions?
According to the DATA LIST booklet for your MOXF, it does not respond to cc67 “Soft” for any of the assignable functions. The actual “Soft” pedal on an acoustic piano is called “una corda” - engaging the leftmost pedal will shift the entire hammer action so that the NOTES that normally sound with three strings will only sound two strings... this softens the overall volume of the instrument.
The MOXF is a synthesizer so you can program your pedal to function as a “soft pedal”.
This requires an FC4/FC5 type momentary pedal (TS connector) plugged into the Assignable Foot Switch jack.
What you can do with a synthesizer like the MOXF (which does not respond to cc067 Soft) is simply assign your assignable Foot Switch to lower the volume output of the piano sound slightly. This can be done with a filter or by simply assigning the FS to reduce volume by a set amount.
Here’s an example of how to do it:
In the MOXF you assign your CONTROLLERS as follows:
Press [UTILITY]
Press [F4] CTL ASN (CONTROL ASSIGN)
Press [SF2] FT SW (FOOT SWITCH)
The FOOT SWITCH No. = select an unused number... you can use cc67, for example.
Call up the PIANO you want to apply this to
Press [EDIT]
Press [COMMON]
Press [F4] CTRL SET
Use one of the six CONTROL SETs to
SOURCE = FOOT SWITCH(67)
DESTINATION = VOLUME
DEPTH = set negative value equal to the amount of level reduction you want to apply with the Foot Switch -5 through -8 should work.
Press [STORE] and select a USER bank location for your newly edited Piano.
When the FS is engaged it will reduce the overall volume of the piano slightly mimicking the sound level change of a Soft Pedal.
