I connected my iPad 2 to the MOXF6 USB to host port via the Apple camera connector, and got an error message saying, “MOXF6/MOXF8 not supported.” so, it recognized the keyboard. 😮 Does the Yamaha i-UX1 / i-MX1 transmit/receive MOXF data differently than the Apple Camera Connector?
So, I went on YouTube and watched a video showing how to connect iPad to the Yamaha Motif XS8 where you had to go into Utilties and set the MIDI In/Out Interface to USB. I went into Utilities on my MOXF and was completely confused because the functions layout is totally different. I'm even more confused now after reading the Reference Manual. 🙁
The error message has to be because I don’t know how to set the right configuration. Can anybody help me do this, or is the MOXF really not supported? Please don’t let it be the latter.
The error message maybe just because the iPad 2 (2011) predates the iOS compatibility. Check Apple's compatibility chart for details.
On the Yamaha side (I can answer)
The MOXF (2013) had iOS compatibility added with update version 1.10 and later...
V1.03 > V1.10
Now allows connection to iOS. However, the confirmed operability is for version 7 or later, and is limited to iPad mini retina display models (A1489, A1490, A1491), iPad Air (A1474, A1475, A1476), 4th generation iPad (A1458, A1459, A1460) and iPhone 5s(A1453, A1457, A1518, A1528, A1530, A1533), iPhone 5c(A1507, A1516, A1526, A1529, A1532, A1456)
...and later
Your iPad may simply be too old.
Thanks Bad Mister, I feel so honored that you responded to my query however, I really didn't want to hear that. 🙁 That also explains why I couldn't get the Yamaha Performance Editor Essential app to work.
I'm running IOS v9.3.3 on an iPad 2 (MC769LL/A). So that should tell you how old my iPad is but it works just fine other on things.
