How do I record the sounds coming from my keyboard to FL studio as midi notes? and also how do I use it as just a controller to use the sounds of my daw? I've been trying to figure this out for a long time now, my keyboard is just sitting there because I don't know how to do all the connections, thank you.
Use the USB cable that comes with the MOXF to connect the USB "To Host" port to your computer.
You need to download and install the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver for your particular computer type. This driver will hand both MIDI and Audio coming from the MOXF and will be selected in your software setup.
You can find the MOXF downloads on the following page:
https://usa.yamaha.com/products/music_production/synthesizers/moxf/downloads.html#product-tabs
Ok I did that, what do I do next?
Read the setup guide for your software or contact the folks who make it. The basic setup guide will tell you where the driver is selected for MIDI and for audio. It would be no different from setting up any keyboard.
The driver has 5 MIDI Ports for MIDI.
PORT 1 - is used for music communication (Notes, Controllers, Tempo, etc)
The driver also can deliver four audio Ports, USB1/2, USB3/4.
Sorry, I don't know your software, but you have everything you need from the MOXF side of things.
I have the same question...
Followed all things mentioned in the thread..
My issue now is :
I select an instrument in FL Studio, and when trying to record the notes by using the Yamaha, it plays both the Yamaha Voice on the Yamaha and the VST instrument in FL Studio.
i volume controls on the Yamaha make no difference..
Cant find any documentation on FL Studio.
The Yamaha, is section for Cubase, Login Pro, etc DAW but NOT FL Studio
help
In your MOXF set Local Control = Off
This disconnects the MOXF Keyboard from the (local) MOXF Tone Generator.
You do this so that your software can direct where the MIDI messages go (to which device)...
On the MOXF
Press [UTILITY]
Press [F6] MIDI
Press [SF2] SWITCH
Set “LocalCtrl” = Off
