Has anyone else loaded this free set from easysounds on their MOXF and got to grips with how they are meant to work? I'm struggling.

I've loaded the .x6A file, the waveforms have been burnt into the flash (I can see them on the display), but I don't see any new user voices. Fair enough, the documentation doesn't say that new user voices are included. But that being the case, I don't understand how the waveforms are being used. There are 194 MB of them! I can see that they are assigned to "Sxx..." where xx is a two digit number which I presume is referring to a song.

The songs have the correct names as described in the documentation, but the layers and zones just aren't there or as described for most of them. There also seems to be some data in the sequencer for some of the "songs" - not just program changes but pitch bends and even notes in some of them. The mixer settings don't make sense either - they're referring to preset voices or user voices which are just the ones that were there before loading in the .x6A file. What am I missing?

David.

You can contact the folks who prepared the data directly... as I understand it the setups are in SONG/PATTERN MIXING setups, so the Voices may be assigned to PARTS in the MIXING hprobably as MIX VOICES)... But they will be able to tell you how to use them.

There were articles in the MUSIC PRODUCTION GUIDE put out by Yamaha Europe... from the 08/2014 issue...

“The sets 2 and 3 on the other hand contain "Hybrid Live Performances", which are very popular among live keyboardists.
Hybrid Live Performances are Mixings at the highest level and with the broadest capabilities. They contain not only complex layer or split programmings, but even allow to switch between sounds without interruption. Many ambitious and professional keyboardist prefer these special Live Performances over traditional Performances with their four different Parts.

A Hybrid Live Performance is created in the Song or Pattern Mixing mode. In contrast to the Performance mode, up to 16 Parts are available here. In a Hybrid Live Performance groups can be formed with different MIDI Receive Channels (Receive Ch.).

Thus, within a single Mixing even more than one Performance can be realised. They can be selected by using the TRACK SELECT buttons without having the previous sound cut off.”

Jean Moric Behrends aka "Swagger Jacky" is considered the inventor of the Hybrid Live Performances and uses them live since about ten years.
