I am using my iPad to send multi part midi file backup tracks direct to my MOXF8 and play along on the MOXF as well and send the MIDI information from my playing to my Voicelive 3 to control harmonies.
I am using a converter to keep everything in the DIN midi connector realm and find that even though I send a SYSX message to reset to GM at the beginning of every song that I am getting hiccups every once in a while (patches changing randomly, small pauses, etc.) so would like to be able to assign midi ports and maybe use USB MIDI in from the iPad and then use the DIN Midi out from the keyboard to the Voicelive but no matter what I try this does not seem to work.
Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

Which device(s) randomly switch patches? Which do not exhibit this particular behavior?
It would be useful to map out where each MIDI out, MIDI in, and MIDI thru port for each device is connected so it's easier to understand your physical connectivity.
Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
The MOXF switches patches.
iPad USB out to USB to MIDI converter
Midi Converter Midi Out to Midi In on MOXF
Midi Out on MOXF (channel 1) to Midi in on Voicelive 3
No other connections
I think the MODX is switching voice or performance (not sure which mode you're in but it doesn't impact the hypothesis) because the MIDI file has PC messages in it. I think if you filtered out the PC and MSB and LSB (CC #0 and CC #32) then the MOXF would stop switching.

Make sure you map out where each MIDI out, MIDI in, and MIDI thru port for each device is connected.
