Hello,
I noted that the auto rhythm start (after pressing stop and play together) only reacts to the built-in keyboard, but not to Note On events of an external MIDI source on Ch 1 or Ch 2. Is there any way to change this behavior?

No. Synchronize start requires you play the KEYS... little known fact: Playing through MIDI is not exactly like playing the actual keyboard. MIDI does not physically move the KEY. A Note-on message in MIDI exerts no physical pressure. There is no MIDI message that substitutes for striking the key, in this instance.
