My question for you: On what MIDI channel or channels are you transmitting from the Montage?

Because the Montage can transmit on multiple MIDI channel simultaneously, how you are overcoming the fact that your sequencer may only record one MIDI channel or only transmit one MIDI channel from a track?

Without information about the Fantom (about which I know nothing - so you have to provide information about its functionality), I can only warn you that the Montage is quite possibly transmitting on several MIDI channels which could cause problems with your recording process, at least we cannot tell you definitively because you simply have not provided enough information.

Apologies - I guess I missed the mark on explaining it properly.

1.) I'm going MIDI-out from the Fanton into the MIDI-in of the Montage.

2.) When building instrumental composition tracks, I use the sequencer on my Roland Fantom-G to control all of my other keyboards (which include a Kronos, an XP-80, Triton, a Motif-XF and now, my Montage.

3.) I use the sounds on all of those keyboards while controlling them from my Fantom G (Using the Fantom G as my main controller).

4.) When building sequences and recording phrases, I'm also (of course) quantizing everything from my Fantom.

5.) When using the Fantom to control the Montage sounds, I'm also setting my quantizer.

6.) The recordings come out fine (perfectly quantized) on EVERY "SLAVE" keyboard, except the Montage.

7) It records all of my sequences but the sequences aren't coming out quantized (when using the fantom to control the Montage).

8.) This is not a problem on any of my other keyboards, including my Motif-XF.

So basically: I use my Fantom as the Master and all other keyboards (including the Montage) as the Slave.

Therefore, When playing the Fantom (Master), we're actually hearing the sounds from the Montage (Slave). THAT ASPECT IS FINE.

The problem is: When I record a sequence using that same set-up, the quantize isn't registering. So the recording does play back (as I've recorded it) but it comes out Unquantized.

I'm assuming that the problem is NOT the Fantom because this is only a problem when controlling the Montage. It works fine for every other keyboard.

The MIDI channels are fine because (on a good note), the Fantom is playing the sounds from the Montage. However, when recording, the recording does come out but MINUS the quantize (which is the problem)....

ALSO - When doing a recording internally on the fantom-only (No MIDI to any external devices), everything comes out perfect (sequencer/quantizer and all). So I've ruled out everything else!

This could be an issue requiring me to phone Yamaha Tech Support.

No, if you provide a bit more information I think the answer will reveal itself.

What sound specifically are you not able to have the Fantom quantize.
Perhaps it's not you playing - the Montage comes armed with 8 other keyboard players! Perhaps it's not you, but one of these 8 other guys (called Arpeggiators) playing. In which case quantizing your Fantom data may have absolutely no influence on them
