I have read that with version 1.5 it is possible to change scenes with a foot controller.
How do I do that? I understand that I should be sending a cc-message.
Which number, and on which midi-channel?
I just have bought a Behringer FCB1010 but I can't figure it out how to program it.
I want to select foot-switch 1 for scene 1, 2 for 2, etc.

Yes, it should be possible. However, to start, I'm sorry but I don't know the Behringer unit you speak of but here's what you need to know onthe Montage side:

You can select the cc message that controls the Scene change. This will be a global assignment.
[UTILITY] > "Settings" > "MIDI I/O"
Set the "Scene CC" as you desire
An exclamation point means this CC is already used, and should be avoided.

Say you select cc92
The following value will select Scenes:

Scene 1 = 0-15
Scene 2 = 16-31
Scene 3 = 32-47
Scene 4 = 48-63
Scene 5 = 64-79
Scene 6 = 80-95
Scene 7 = 96-111
Scene 8 = 112-127

Any single value in the range of values will select the Scene. So it can be accomplished with a Foot Controller sweep type pedal (with an articulate foot) or a Foot Switch type pedal, (if you can set the value sent).

If you really have 8 scenes and use the sweep method, then foot position accuracy may be difficult to manage (getting the correct rotational angle for a target scene #). However, if you only have two scenes - then to improve accuracy, I would program scenes 1-4 as the same settings (for the first scene) and scenes 5-8 as the same settings (for the 2nd scene). Same idea can be applied to if using only 3 or 4 scenes (less than all) - although if I were dealing with 3 scenes, I would program up scene 1 with the setting for the 1st scene, scenes 2-7 as the settings for the 2 scene, and scene 8 as the setting for the 3rd scene. Since "full heel" and "full toe" are so easy to locate, I would only give the extreme outer scenes one "range". Below, I'll call the first scene I want to set "Scene A", second "Scene B" - since scene numbers for foot control are duplicated copies in order to help control accuracy.

2 scenes (A, and B)
Scene 1: Scene A (Full heel)
Scene 2: Scene A
Scene 3: Scene A
Scene 4: Scene A
Scene 5: Scene B
Scene 6: Scene B
Scene 7: Scene B
Scene 8: Scene B (Full toe)

3 scenes (A, B, and C)
Scene 1: Scene A (Full heel)
Scene 2: Scene B (Anywhere between ...)
Scene 3: Scene B
Scene 4: Scene B
Scene 5: Scene B
Scene 6: Scene B
Scene 7: Scene B
Scene 8: Scene C (Full toe)

4 scenes (A,B,C,and D)
Scene 1: Scene A (Full heel)
Scene 2: Scene B (Region 1 inbetween ...)
Scene 3: Scene B
Scene 4: Scene B
Scene 5: Scene C (Region 2 inbetween ...)
Scene 6: Scene C
Scene 7: Scene C
Scene 8: Scene D (Full toe)

You get the idea - when programmed like this - the "landing strip" for Scene "B" and "C" above for the 4-scene case is 3x longer than using just a single scene position - so this can improve your accuracy of selecting "Scene B" vs. "Scene C" vs. any other scene.

None of this is in stone, though. If you have 2 scenes and want to make it harder to "switch back" to Scene A - then you could only program up Scene 1 with Scene A - then Scenes 2-8 with Scene B. Or if you wanted to make it harder to inadvertently switch forward or backward, you could program only Scene 1 with Scene A and only Scene 8 with Scene B and leave Scenes 2-7 empty (unassigned). Hopefully, the idea is clear. When thinking about the foot control - use the ranges to your advantage if you require less than 8 scenes.

I could help you out, but for some reason my postings are deleted.

In general: assume all default settings:
1) On Montage:
a. midi = multi
b. channel = 92
2) On FCB1010:
a. transmit midi-channel = 0
b. select the bank you want to store your settings (e.g. 00 )

So far you don’t have to do anything.

Programming a scene number to a foot switch number:
1. Select the foot switch e.g. number [1]. The red button on 1 turns on.
2. Press/hold the [DOWN/ESC] button for 5 seconds. A green light will be flashing.
3. Press the [UP/ENTER] button to confirm.
a. Probably some lights will be lit (e.g. 1, 8, 9)
b. Hold each of these buttons until they all are switched off.
4. Hold the [6]-button until it turns on steady.
5. Press the [6]-button once more until it flashes.
6. Press [UP/ENTER]
7. Press [9] and then [2] to select “cc92”
8. Press [UP/ENTER]
9. Press [00]
10. Press [UP/ENTER]
11. Press/hold the [DOWN/ESC] button for 5 seconds. The green lights will turn off.

Repeat the steps above but change step 1 and 9.
At step (1) select footswitch [2]
At step (9) press [16]

Et cetera:
At step (1) select footswitch [1] - [2] – [3] – [4] – [5] – [6] – [7] – [8]
At step (9) press [00] - [16] – [32] – [48] – [64] – [80] – [96] – [112]

Thanks, it works great.
Is there a list available with these cc-numbers and their values?
For instance, how can I program a midi command to switch to the next Live Set Performance?
Or to switch to the next Live Set Page?

Yes, it's called the DATA LIST (PDF). A new one was recently added to include all of the new added features, including the information for recalling the User LIVE SETs via Bank Select and Program Change messages. (page 183)

Can this also be used for the Super-knob and a Sustain?

FCB1010 control of Super Knob and Sustain - yes. Sustain is CC (decimal) 64. Super knob CC is set in [UTILITY] "Settings" -> "MIDI I/O" under "Super Knob CC".

Thanks Jan for your instructions - worked well.
However after programming the FCB1010 to change scenes I then tried to program exp pedal A to operate the Superknob - but found it only operated it when pedal 8 was pressed. As soon as I changes scenes to say Pedal 5 then the expression pedal A didn't work. Any ideas or don't they work at the same time?
Cheers
Peter

Hi all,

Sorry to post to such an old thread. But it's been very useful for me and I thought I'd tie off Peter's last question. The FCB1010 can assign different CC numbers to the expression rocker for *each* pedal. So he'd have to go through and make sure the expression-pedal CC was the same for all 10 pedals.
