I just bought a S90SX. I have seen other people assign different sounds to the slide faders... in other words, piano on fader 1, a pad on fader 2, strings of fader 3 and so on. I keep looking in the manual for a way to accomplish this but can't seem to find it. Does anyone know how to do this and can you share it with me. Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to Yamaha Synth!

In the Owner's Manual start with the Quick Guide on page 28: "Creating a New Performance by Using Your Favorite Voice (Performance Creator)"

The PERFORMANCE CREATOR is quick easy way to combine multiple Voices into a playable program where each Voice (now placed in a PART) has its own CONTROL SLIDER (CS).

That's a good place to start. There are factory Performances that will give you an idea of what is possible by combining four Parts into a single program.

If you get stuck, post back here.

Yup, that did it!! Thanks so much. To add a 3rd or 4th layer I assume you just keep following the steps or do you have to store it and then keep adding?

You can store if you desire. The concept is that this method facilitates quick, on-the-fly, access to Layering and Spliting the keyboard and adding a quick drum groove. By pressing [STORE] and then entering full EDIT (by actually pressing the [EDIT] button) allows you to get to a deeper level of programming the PARTs and the COMMON parameters. You can then assign different Arp Types to the [ARP SELECT] buttons and further refine the PERFORMANCE.
