I do understand protocol but this isn't a Montage

I understand Yamaha moderators wanting to restrict this forum to user only YC61 operation questions however this board isn't a super complex Montage synth. That forum has literally thousands of posts and so keeping suggestions or general comments separate would be paramount. But, since this CY is a very simple stage organ/piano (in comparison), such restrictions are sort of picky. For example, the CP73/88 has been out for a year and only has less than 140 discussions. There's no logical reason we all can't post YC61 related comments and suggestion right here on this forum and there's also no logical reason Yamaha tech/programmer guys can't read about a few suggestions on this forum or have them relayed over to design command central. Is that really a hardship? Yamaha should be ecstatic we're buying their gear and paying their bills. I do but don't understand the scolding on this site on occasion. I also praise their gear as much or more than making suggestions for improvements. I have owned or currently own every Tyros/Genos arranger series, Montage 8, CP1, YC, EX5 & Racks, FS1r, DX series, RS7000, RM1X, AN1x, SY77/99, A3000 & A5000, QY700, CS6X, TG/TX, EX7, Motif series synths plus I've personally repaired hundreds of Yamaha vintage gear pieces removing every screw down to the chassis by hand and rebuilding it. Just say'n I know a little about Yamaha gear and have significantly invested in it over the years. I have attempted to register on IdeaScale and will relocate asap.

I'm sort of a newbie to Yamaha...well not entirely I guess...used to own an RX7 and an SPX 90 and I bought my wife a WX5...all this at least 30 years ago of course. Anyway, pretty clear that Bad Mister and Blake don't want this to become a b and m venue. Was grateful they helped me out with some technical issues a couple weeks ago when I first got the YC. I thought it better to express "issues" here rather than over on Keyboard Corner which has a much broader readership...but looks like this is the wrong place too. Already posting over in Ideascale and will try to bring up issues there instead and generally keep my powder dry until we get an OS update....although I would like to start some idea sharing on how others are planning to use this as a master keyboard particularly for computer/VST set-ups....hopefully that's an appropriate use of this venue. David...hope you get signed up over there soon...you have some great feedback and obviously know the innerworkings of Yamaha equipment.

Overall, the community here is fairly tolerant of anything except those floods of Chinese spam posts that happen every once and a while. I'm not always happy with the hammer that sometimes comes down to squash constructive user feedback regardless if there's a "better" place for it or not -- or sometimes if the message is unfavorable towards a feature that can set off a pride kind of response -- or for whatever reason. Or sometimes slight of hand to undermine what's actually good feedback with insight.

On balance, though, there's a ton of great content that's discussed here and it stays fairly civil even if not perfect.

Yamaha support are humans - and we humans have a way of not performing at our best when having a bad day, or set off by something, or just tired. Who knows. Although this comes up from time to time, I still want to reach my arm out and help dust off the fallen and move on. Hope to see less judgement/bad mojo over time. And, actually, I do perceive that the trend has been going in that direction over time.

Hope you all continue to participate and just cast out what you respectfully feel like posting without too many trappings of "protocol" and feeling like walking on eggshells.

There's an extremely diverse community here and I think we benefit more from participation. Looking forward to more unbridled truths.

Would be nice if we could PM each other within this site and take some of this off line....I do that on the KC a lot....that way we can be a little more measured about what we say "in public". Bad Mister and Blake can block theirs so they don't get overloaded with questions/requests. Also, I am trying to add an Avatar and change my posting name on this site but those functions don't seem to be working...have tried over several days.

BTW Jason...I think you're right on the money on the "pride factor" for Yamaha reps...just the fact that they are working there butts off trying to move these things and it's enough to fight against competitors, distributors and probably their own management, etc...then they get a little not-so-favorable feedback from us insiders...it's probably "the last straw". I had similar experiences with Mike Martin at Casio and Pablo at Nord who are both super guys and I learned to try to be judicious in what I brought up and how I phrased things. It wasn't an easy time to be in their line of work even before all the recent events...sure it's even tougher now. So to Bad Mister and Blake...thank you for what you do...sorry if we sometimes make your job more difficult...let us know if there's a better way to give you honest feedback in a more constructive fashion.

I'm also an engineer by trade so I do a ton of analytical thinking and comparing. I almost exclusively use Yamaha because since my first DX100 coupled with the QY midi sequencer as a teen, I'm grown used to the quality and engineering but mostly the best sounds on the planet. I have owned and used other manufacturer's from time to time but always go right back to Yamaha. I use a Deepmind 12 module pared with my CP1 for thick AN complimented piano layers. This is my first organ in all those years. I looked at others on the market many times but when Yamaha released news of their own I was on the pre-order list. On a side note I get nothing from Yamaha to advertise for them thus I'm 100% an uninterested party. I had to dig and get really picky to find anything needing improving on the YC beyond what some have mentioned, oh and to give us more of the same on OS updates. I didn't get in the loop on the CP73/88 because I have a CP1 which is the best thing ever. YC compliments the CP1 which I've been waiting for. I only wish I knew when the next Montage was coming because budgeting wise I need to know to be ready. See photo below.

That rack mount frame is held in position by my customized pipe stand frame thru bolted to my keyboard stand arm. Feel free to steal my design.

Nice set-up David...and I see we have two things in common...the YC and the Presonus Studiolive AR8! I'm migrating to a YC/soft synth set-up (mostly Arturia V Collection) organized using Cantabile. Lots of interesting issues I'm working through...but tremendous sonic potential. (Note the picture on my screen...)

All instruments are actually routed into my Allen Heath ZED14 behind the monitor but I use the Presonus for effects when I'm playing trumpet. I think I messed up the phantom power on it otherwise it's brand new. Your photo didn't show up other than the title of it.
