Hallo, would it be possible in the future to get an editor programm for Yamaha YC61 and CP73/88
to change the sound names on the PC screen and to rearrange the sound banks?
That would be very helpful for me because i can no longer see so well.

Maybe there are other users here who are of my opinion ?
Best regards from JP

I would also love to see an editor. It's quite tedious editing with the menus and that small screen.

Yes, agree an editor and librarian to manage live sets is absolutely necessary, Yamaha your competitors do it, what is the hold up?

Are you currently using Soundmondo?
Allows you to capture and helps you manage all your YC61 and CP73/88 programs. If you have all three, seems you would be all over Soundmondo when you want “...to change the sound names on the PC screen and to rearrange sound banks...”

Download it, give it a try, let us know.

I’ve tried it, it’s not that efficient as compared to say John Melas Montage/Modx editor/librarian. It’s fine if you use say 5 or 10 live sets for your gig, but when one manages nearly 100 live sets its different (I use 12 of the 20 banks for my sounds = 96 live sets). Having to capture each individual live set, then arrange them, then download them individually to the live set slot, then save that on your board and then do it again and again gets rather tedious (unless there is a bulk download I am unaware of that can move those 100 live sets on Soundmondo to the YC with one finger tap).

Compare that to a simple librarian that reads all your live sets allows you to arrange them and bulk download it. I do this with Nord Sound Manager that I use with my Nord Lead A1 I use alongside the YC 61. But the YC 61 is my main board, I love it, just need a more efficient way to manage all my live sets

Rob,
Your request is quite a bit different from the original poster, who is looking “...to change the sound names on the PC screen and to rearrange sound banks...”

If you have so many Live Sets that you are finding it tedious to manage, you should perhaps look for an existing solution, that does not require your transfer the whole Live Set bank with one finger tap. Frankly, while you are awaiting such a thing, you should really look into alternative methods of recalling and controlling your stage setup.

When you have, as you have stated, so many Live Set Sounds and things to manage, something like Camelot Pro comes highly recommended. There are several video tutorials on this innovative program... check them out...

Actually Camelot pro is something I just started using a couple weeks ago, but I still think at the price point of Yamaha YC series keyboards that Yamaha still owes it to their customers to have an editor much like Roland does with the Juno series, or nord does etc , etc instead of trying to push an app that is really only good for a few performances or live set sounds. Not sure why Yamaha is always defensive on matters when people point out things that could be better.

bottom line, should I really have to rely on and pay for a third-party app or software to manage the live sets? Yamaha has plenty of resources to make this happen, not sure why they are so reluctant about something like this.

I also would like to point out, third-party apps cannot manage live sets on the keyboard itself, they can only recall certain live sets I would still like to have all of my life sets in set list order in case a third-party app such as Camelot pro were to malfunction. then at least I can continue by pressing the next life set button. this is called redundancy, and any professional who has done this more than a couple of years understands this.

hopefully Yamaha is not reluctant to do this, maybe they are just slow in making it happen, and one day it will magically appear.

thank~you

We get it, you desire an editor/librarian. And that’s okay to register your desire for one. I just want to point out that these particular Keyboards (those under the “Stage Keyboard” heading: YC and CP)... are designed to be free from deep menus - as most everything is immediately accessible via the front panel — that’s a fundamental design concept. The need for an Editor was deemed of less importance for the target use.... immediate access was the ‘prime directive’.

The original post here was about naming Live Set Sounds on another device because of difficulty in seeing the screen. This is available via the App. Those products, where the vast majority of parameters must be navigated to via a series of deep and deeper menu dives are more likely candidates for the type of parameter-by-parameter Editor you describe. As to a Librarian (managing your programs)... Soundmondo offers a compelling way you can capture and manipulate recalling your most detailed Live Set Sounds... from the App.

You cannot only recall each of your programs, quickly and easily, by simply tapping the icon but you can arrange multiple Set Lists, even rearrange them by dragging and dropping your Live Set Sounds into any order you desire.

This offline solution allows you to redo your Set List away from the product — yes, you are working offline. You’d like to be able to “dump” one of the Set Lists into the product as one large bulk... you might want to formulate that into a request for IdeaScale with a description about how you work (instead of the apples to oranges comparison with competitor’s products, least it be dismissed offhand as not understanding a fundamental design concept). As you point out, having that ability would give you autonomy from having to count on a (battery driven) external device. It’s all in how you frame it.

From the product descriptions of the Stage Keyboards CP/YC:

DIRECT, IMMEDIATE AND TOTAL SOUND CONTROL
With its one-to-one interface, CP provides direct, immediate and total control of your sound during any performance. Forget programming, menu-diving and web searching. The CP’s intuitive interface allows fast and easy splits, layers and sound-shaping directly from the front panel.

DIRECT, IMMEDIATE AND TOTAL SOUND CONTROL
YC is made for long jams, not long menus. The intuitive interface gives you fast and easy splits, layers and sound-shaping directly from the front panel. Proving that versatility doesn’t have to be complex.

“Synthesizer” products like the MONTAGE, MODX, Motif XS/XF, etc., etc., (synthesizers) where you have hundreds and hundreds of parameters per program are more likely to have proper Editors developed to program details with the help of a computer. We work with third party companies so that such support can be developed in a timely fashion.

Yamaha is the world’s largest manufacturer of musical instruments, not the world’s largest computer software developer... but we’re only 133 years old, give us time 🙂

IdeaScale allows you to make such requests. It’s a legitimate request (but not because the competition does it on their synthesizers), but because it would support your desired workflow. Hope that helps.
