I have a Fatar PS-100 footswitch/pedal plugged in to the Sustain jack of my YC61.

I play a piano sound without depressing the footswitch and the sustain does not happen.
When i try to depress the footswitch, still nothing but at this point, when I release it, sustain happens.
Then, when I press on the footswitch again no more sustain. In other words, reversed but not after depressing it initially/first.

1. There is no footswitch polarity switch on the PS-100
2. i tried depressing footswiitch as I turn it OFF.
3. I tried depressing footswitch as i turn it ON.
4. I tried factory setting.

Nothing. Any other sugestions? My PS-100 works with my other keyboards even a Yamaha PSR-SX700 (without having to do all the polarity switching steps above).

Looking at the manual, it seems the YC61 default setting is for a half-damper sustain pedal. Try setting the sustain pedal type to FC4A/FC5 which are simple switch pedals like the PS-100.

The Fatar PS100 is fitted with a 'normally open' switch. The YC61 is looking for a 'normally closed' contact - like the Yamaha FC4A or FC5 - which opens when the footswitch is pressed.

As you have discovered your footswitch will work - but in reverse!

The correct type of Fatar footswitch to use with the YC61 is the PS150 .

The Yamaha FC4A or FC5 will also work (of course!) or - if your budget is tight - then the Stagg Susped5 or Susped10 footswitches also work well, and are very reasonably priced. (Those units have a selectable normally open or normally closed switch option)
