Is it possible to have different arpeggios in SONG or PATTERN mode for the same track either stored in different scenes or parts? It seems arpeggio for every track is a global assignment. Once it's assigned it'll be fixed among all the pattern parts. For example if I change the arpeggio while in part b, part a is also affected. Is there a workaround to achieve such a thing?

Sorry, I cannot follow what you wrote, the use of terminology is so mixed up.
You need to be clear on the terms Track, Part, Aroeggio Type, Section...

Tracks have numbers 1-16... Track store MIDI data
Parts have numbers 1-16... Parts are the synthesizer tone generator... Arpeggios are assigned to Parts.
There are five different Arpeggio Types that can be assigned to the [SF1]-[SF5] buttons. Each Type is a different musical phrase. So that when you press [SF1] the instrument will play a specific musical phrase, when you hit [SF2] it will play a different musical phrase.
Sections are in Pattern mode only, and have letters [A]-[P]. Each represents a section of music, as in the verse, chorus, bridge, etc. A section can be as short as 1 measure, and as long as 256 measures. Sections in Pattern mode, repeat (loop).

What is it you want to achieve, you don't actually say. Or I cannot understand what you are asking. Just remember to use the proper terms, if you can, thank you.

Sorry my bad again Phil. Yes I mean sections. There are sections A-P. What I want is to have different arpeggios in every section stored for the same VOICE (or TRACK). Right now, when I select SECTION A, and set TRACK 1 to a specific arpeggio, if I change the SECTION to B and modify the arpeggio it'll change whatever I have in SECTION A, TRACK 1 as well. Is there a way to store a snapshot of the arpeggios so that we can use different arpeggios on the same TRACK? We have this in VOICE and PERFORMANCE mode but I want to see the result and may want to modify it in conjunction with the rest of the instruments.

What you are not understanding is that the arpeggio type is assigned to the Part. Not to the Track, not to the Section, to the Instrument. If you study the definitions of these terms it will begin to make sense to you. You can record the output of the arpeggiator to the Track.

Arps are musical phrases, they can be recorded to the Tracks within a Section, that is how you get different phrases in each Section. Please see the Owners Manual for details on this basic Motif concept.

Sorry for misunderstanding but I'm confused. In the user manual parts in SONG or PATTERN modes are referred like this:

Page 168 reference manual

In the Pattern mode as well as in the Song mode, you can set the Mixing parameters such as Voice, volume and pan for each part (track). The structure and parameters are the same as in the Song mode. See page 139.

And these two terms have been used interchangeably.

If what you're referring to is different, would you please tell me how I can modify a PART in PATTERN or SONG mode? because I can't find anything named as a PART not on the buttons nor in the menus.

So here is what I see on the screen:
On the MOTIF XF screen when I am in PATTER number X,
-under the word PATTERN it is the assigned number.
-Then there is a section name A to P.
-Right below that it is written Tr.

When I hit the RECORD button I can select which TR (probably TRACK) to record in. This is where I have the arpeggio assignment options provided. So based on which TRACK I'm selecting I can modify its assigned arpeggio. When I select the "Arpeggio" using F2 button, I can see "Track 1" under on top of the menu and set it to ON/OFF etc.

I don't want to record anything (yet) and want to use it similar to performance mode except I want to be able to modify the arpeggio either by calling a scene button (for example) or changing it by advancing to the next SECTION (no recording or while recording).

Okay, let's restate the basics.
Press [PATTERN] to view the main Pattern screen
If you press [EDIT] you will be taken to a screen where you are editing sequencer events, on one of the 18 Tracks: 1-16, Scene Track, Tempo Track

from the main [PATTERN] screen, press [MIXING]
You will be taken to a screen where you have access to the synth tone generator, now if you press [EDIT] you are editing one of the sixteen synthesizers PARTs. This includes the Waveform, the filters, the envelope generators, the effects, the arpeggios, etc., etc., etc. Parts each contain one Voice.

Track = Sequencer = event data (16 Track recorder)
Part = Tone generator = multitimbral Part (16 Part multi-timbral)

A VOICE is only found in Voice Mode, once you place a Voice in a Performance or a Mixing, you place it in an entity called a PART. A set of offset parameters applied to the original Voice, that allows you to address it without destructively changing the original data.
Because a Part is assigned to playback data contained on a Track does not make them interchangeable. But does mean they have a relationship.

The relationship is linked by the "MIDI Channel". The Keyboard transmits via a Track, the track is set to transmit on a specific MIDI Channel to a Part or Parts.
Multiple Parts can be assigned to the same MIDI channel to this means interchangeability is not what you want to be thinking. Initially the Track, the Channel, and the Part all share the same number, but that's changeable.

There is an important difference! Fail to recognize at your own confusion. Arpeggios are phrases that get attached to the Part

Hello dear Bad Mister, my problem is similar: I want to use the MOXF for Live-Registration and change the five Arp-Variations in realtime. Concretely I would like to have chillout-drum-and-bass-pattern with intro, ending, two main Parts and Fillin, play a chord-pad in left hand and switch between different Melody voices in the right hand. This is possible in the performance mode, where I have to put all theses things into ONE Performance, because otherwise the pattern stops when switchig to a new performance. As there are only four voices in the performance-mode, this solution is a little weak. So my question is: Is there another possibility, may be in the patter-mixing-mode...??? Thanks for thinking, Thomas
