Hi,
does someone know how to reverse a sample inside the montage?
I don't know if it is possible, because i didn't find the setting for that while creating a new performance.
In my old SY85 it was possible to reverse a sample inside the voice.

The Montage does not have Sample RAM like your old SY85.

While the Montage can import Waveforms and is compatible with Waveforms constructed in the Motif XF format, currently, you cannot construct your own Waveforms from a sample.

A Waveform is what organizes Samples into playable, selectable entities.

Samples are individual recordings of audio. 256 can be used within a Waveform. Samples can be mapped to a region horizontally across the keyboard, and/or vertically via velocity response regions. This mapping is called a KEYBANK. It is at this level of the construction where you tell the system to read the data forward, in reverse, as a one shot or to loop. Once the Keybanks are assembled into a Waveform... That's the state you can properly Import it into the Montage.

You cannot edit at the sample level to reverse the direction of play on the Montage. That will need to be done at the sampler or editor creating the Waveform data. Again, data created in Motif XF Waveform format can be imported directly to Montage.

Edit - no alternative. Was in the wrong time domain with my thoughts earlier. Deleting as does not apply in any case.

What i tried to do is just to get the sound of a HiHat reversed for example. What i wrote before, i could do that on the Yamaha SY85 with imported samples or waveforms and with the factory presets also. Just a click on reverse. I thought i could do the same on the Montage. Creating a part, select a waveform for an element and say i want play it in reversed direction. The SY85 was an easy ROMpler without special features like editing samples. I understand why there is no sampler inside. Thats's ok because i would use the PC for sampling complete new sounds. But i can't imagine why such an easy feature is missing now on the Montage when Yamaha used it before on the nonflagships. So i have to take a waveform from the Montage to the PC and reverse it there. Don't understand me wrong, but that can't be the right way for creating new sounds with waveforms they are already exist onboard. I don't know if there is a difference between the AWM2 sounds from the SY and the Montage (except quality and size). I had a too long break from all the synth stuff. With the Montage i tried to get in again. It seems that i need alot of more time as i thought 😀 .
But thanks again.

Even without sample memory - I kind of agree it would be nice to be able to change at least the play mode (one shot, reverse, loop) and possibly other waveform parameters that do not deal with the sample itself. Maybe not loop points (or maybe yes, loop points) - but other than a clean interface to preview what you're doing - it would be OK to just do this "in the dark" and have to press a "piano" key to hear the result.

There are, however, other examples of initial complaints about the workflow of Montage that were reversed (opinion reversed) once the keyboard player used the feature "the new way" and got accustomed to it. Realizing now, there's more power, flexibility, and ease of use even if there is one or two extra steps.
