I just started using the pattern chain function. I attempted to chain two sections in a specific order by using the record method from the chain screen. i can see that it memorized the chain i did by observing it in the the edit tab but when i convert to song rather than changing back and forth the way it was displayed it simply just repeats one section for all measures. What am i doing wrong?

Usually when this happens it is due to a Section that extended beyond the 480 clock ticks in the very last Beat... this can occur when you have used a timing offset (Clock Shift) but have not "Normalized" the data.

When MIDI instructions tell a note to play beyond the LENGTH of the Section, it does not advance to the next step in the Chain.

If you have used the Pattern Play FX to shift the playback timing, you should first, use the PATTERN JOB "Normalize Play FX" this will write that data into the track (and zero out the Offset Grid) - it basically makes the clock shift permanent event data - rather than the temporary real time offset

Reference Manual (page 169)
Changing the rhythmic “feel” of the Pattern—[F2] Play FX (Play Effect)
By changing the timing and velocity of the notes, you can change the rhythmic “feel” of Pattern playback. The Play Effect settings made here are only temporary and don’t change the actual data in the Pattern. The Play Effect settings can be applied actually to the Pattern data by using the Normalize Play Effect Job.

Thanks. I normalized the play fx and that did the trick. I appreciate the timely response. I am still getting used to the operations of the motif and will most likely have future questions, your help is greatly needed and appreciated.
