Problem With Yamaha Chord Tracker App (Great App, But There Is A Problem)

I downloaded the Yamaha Chord Tracker app and am amazed what it can do so easily and fast. There are songs that I could not figure out the chords, but this app does it.

Here is the problem. After I analyze a song and have all the chords listed, I want to be able to print out the sequence of chords so that I can play the song from the de facto lead sheet. But although when I have a "favorite" that I have analyzed and selected, the "Open In" tab at the top gives me certain options including to print or convert to pdf, BUT NOTHING WORKS. If I select "Convert to PDF", nothing happens. If I hit "Print With Printer Pro", I get a message "Oh, No"- although Printer Pro works great with everything else in every other app- so it's not a problem with the printer app. I even tried to copy and paste the chord list but that does not work. I tried to transfer an analyzed favorite to the computer via iTunes file transfer but nothing shows up on the inventory list in Chord Tracker.

So my question is, other than taking a pen to paper and writing out manually (or typing into a word processing page) each chord notation one by one, it there a way to actually convert a Favorite to a pdf file and if so, where do I find the pdf file? Also, why isn't the chord analysis printing?

What is the solution to a great app to make it actually useful for a lead sheet purpose?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I am not aware of an issue with exporting the data from the Chord Tracker app. This maybe a issue with the host device or the receiving app (I'll have to look into it). For example, I don't believe the option to print necessarily appears in all devices. I don't get such an option, (curious). But if you have an app that generates a PDF, that's interesting. I will find out what I can.

Have you tried exporting the CHORD TRACK to a Yamaha instrument capable of reading Chords?

Anyone at Yamaha listening? Or did I hit a raw nerve? I recognize the vast majority of resources on this site need to be directed towards Montage issues, but If someone spends the time to download and hours trying to work with even the most insignificant Yamaha app (which this is not), support is also deserved. So getting back to my question, can the Chord Tracker app print to an Apple AirPrint printer or be converted to a pdf file which then can either be "opened in" a pdf app and printed or transferred to a computer via iTunes? Please advise. Even if Yamaha has decided not to support these functions, at least I can quit trying to make them work. Thank you.

Sorry about my last post. I posted before reading your last response. Thank you Bad Mister for taking the time to respond. In response to your suggestions, I have an Apple iPhone 6s and iPad Pro. On both I have several apps that covert to pdf and can print from pdf files including Adobe, Documents and PDF Converter. They all work fine. The Chord Tracker app on my 2 devises has options to "Print with Printer Pro" and "Convert to PDF". These show up when it select a "Favorite" and tap the "Open In" tab at the top of the page. But as I mentioned, nothing happens when I select either.

Regarding "Have you tried exporting the CHORD TRACK to a Yamaha instrument capable of reading Chords?", the only Yamaha electronic instrument I have at this time is a CP4 (very happy with it). I do not think I can transfer chords to it, but if there is a way, I would appreciate instructions on how to do it.

Again, the reason I am spending so much time with Chord Tracker is that it is a game changer. It is fast and accurate and fills in the gaps for chords in a song that I can not figure out.

Thanks again and my apologies.

I know it is difficult some times to know where to get help. Yamaha is the world's largest manufacturer of musical instruments... and there are simply so many that we make. This site is actually dedicated to the small but active world of Yamaha Synthesizers/and pro Stage pianos. (None of which directly work with the Chord Tracker... That is why I asked about transferring the Chord map to a Yamaha product that is chord intelligent and supports converting that into a Song. (Mainly, the products that can import the chord map are like Clavinovas, Tyros, Arranger/Style based keyboards, perhaps even Disklaviers)

I've seen, and have actually used the Chord Tracker so I knew what you were talking about... It is an extremely cool app! Remarkable really! I don't have an iPad Pro and do not get any options to print or to export as PDF. So, frankly, I'm at a loss, in fact I was not aware it could print the chart out. When I initially saw your question, I knew the app, but had never saw any option to print.

Are you in the USA? If not, I'll make an inquiry and report when I hear. But if you are, you'll want to call our Customer Support folks, they will most likely have that information readily available or they can open a query on this and follow through for you.

Thank you Bad Mister for your help. I am in the USA. I took a photo with my iPhone of the Chord Tracker app opened in my iPad with the "Open In" options visible. I am going to try to attach the photo. Not sure it will work, but here it goes. Thanks again for your effort.

Follow Up.

Spoke with Yamaha customer service as suggested. Got through to a tech assistant almost immediately. He could not duplicate my issue, so he referred me to another tech with more experience with Chord Tracker. However, it was about closing time and the new tech was busy with another customer. To my surprise, the person I was speaking with set up a phone appointment at my convenience for the next day at 4:00 PM. At exactly 4:00 PM the call came in. Now that is great service and response!

The conclusion is that my Printer Pro App and Pdf Convert App (excellent apps made by Readdle) somehow extended their capabilities into the Chord Tracker "Open In" options list, but these are not actual options for Chord Tracker. The chord lists can't be printed or converted to pdf. Too bad, but not fatal.

My suggestion is that Chord Tracker, an exceptional app, would be even better if I could print out the chord changes in a lead sheet or convert the chord list to a pdf file I could open in another app and print.

Hope the app guru is reading this.

My thanks to great customer service. It pays to buy Yamaha products.

Thanks for the report. I didn't think it was designed to print (but wasn't sure), what it does do, that is further mind boggling is it outputs the chord map directly into the supported product. So imagine wanting to learn any song, it calculates the chords, then outputs them into an accompaniment for your Yamaha arranger, so in minutes (not hours or days) you're performing that song! Amazing... The hours and the number of vinyl records I ruined as a kid transcribing from Records... 🙂

I've been there too. And this amazing app is FREE! My advice,

Don't leave home without it

. Almost makes buying a $5,500 Tyros 5-76 an indispensable accessory for Chord Tracker.;)

This chord tracker sounds intriguing and as I'm still learning my beloved PSR 8000 I just may drown in new technology. I would love to see if that PSR 8000 will respond to this new gizmo. I would wish for eternal life if for nothing other than to understand all these new contraptions. (By crackie)!

It must be something super simple that I can't find anything on it online... I recently got Chord Tracker app on my iPhone/iPad. And all of song list says "This Data Cannot Be Selected"... why is that? I am also a new user to iTune. :p If someone can help me, I'd appreciated it very much. Thanks!

What type of data are you trying to select?

I have no idea... the songs I saved in iTune... What do I need to do first? Chord Tracker says " The data cannot be selected." for all songs in the list. I apologze for such an ignorant question.:(
