Hello,

I would like to know which DAW are you using usually with your Montage and if you encountered any problems when connecting the Montage via usb to it.
I'm using Bitwig Studio (but I have also the lite version of Ableton Live 9 and Cubase LE AI 8.5) on a Win7 Ultimate PC.

No go to DAW as of Yet
Testing
Logic Pro x, Cubase 9 Artist, Reason 9, Pro tools/first. considering checking out Studio one and also purchasing Pro tools Full version it seems to intergrate with MIDI routing via 16 channel Performances MIDI REC ON DAW template

I use Cubase AI 9 for sequencing and record to WAV using Audacity, mixing/mastering with Adobe Audition and Ozone 4/6.

You should be aware that it is not possible to record using Windows 7 due to a driver bug which always produces static and hissing. Use any sound source to record anything via any tool on Windows 7 and anything you expect to be silence will be full of artifacts you can easily hear with slight amplification.

It’s audible without amplification, and makes it impossible to layer tracks etc. It is not possible to produce a clean and professional result with any DAW on Windows 7.

I used Windows XP to record before, but now that it is USB-based I use Mac OS X. I did not have any problems with the USB interface on Windows 7 or Mac OS X (but Windows 7 still can’t record clean audio regardless of the sound source).

Logic Pro X (10.2)
Mainstage 3 (3.2)

I'm very happy with how well the Montage works as a USB Audio interface live with MainStage 3.
I use Ivory Pianos, loads of Alchemy, EXS24, Kontakt, instruments, and it has never glitched, very low latency, and has no problem with Mainstage, Ableton, and Traktor DJ running at the same time!
I no longer have to carry a separate Audio interface, everything comes out the outputs of the Montage, (only one DI needed) and even acts as a MIDI to USB for external controller (which is a CP4 in this case.)
thanks!

When I queried Steinberg about AI9, they told me it would not be accessible and that AI8 is what ships with all Montages (even if you register one today). I'm surprised since the download information card doesn't mention a version - only "entitled to download a full version of Cubase AI".

So Cubase AI 8 it is.

Sonar Platinum.

Does any thing and more, imo.
I love it.

No problems with Montage or any thing.

I also use Adobe Audition.

Windows 7 professional.

Cubase 8.5 Pro. Haven't yet seen anything I need in Cubase 9, and I'm waiting until other people find all the serious bugs and Steinberg fixes them. πŸ™‚

When I researched DAW software years ago, I looked at 3 final contenders. Pro Tools, Cubase, and Cakewalk Sonar all would work for me. I eliminated the first two when I found out they use iLok. I don't do dongles. I have some software in my Electornics Lab that cost thousands to purchase and $1500/year for upgrades. They didn't use dongles!

I love Sonar Platinum with free lifetime upgrades!

Hello - just to keep a balance, I don't have a DAW at all - Montage works fine without one. But I'm not a musician, just a sounds guy. I admit that Walter's Post caught my eye - a major stumbling block for me is those wretched dongle things! But if I don't need it, I don't need it ...
