Hello,

Please can you help me with the following: I use my CP4 as an external keyboard controller for my MODX. I have a FC7 connected to the FC1 input of the MODX. I mainly use it to control volume of layers.

I created a performance on the MODX, with some parts 1-3 to play on the MODX, and a part 9 that I can target from my CP, using zone 1. That works fine. The thing is: I would like to be able to control volume of part 9 with the FC7, but I don't get it working. Do I miss something? Is it the concept of selecting this part on the MODX to be able to control it? What would be the alternative? Hope I explained it properly.

For your setup the CP4 Stage is in charge of MODX Part 9, therefore it follows it would also be responsible for controlling the Volume of Part 9. An FC7 plugged into the CP4 Stage would transmit to the MODX on channel 9 and control Part 9.

The Super Knob (being “super”) can be tasked with controlling the Volume of Part 9 even if you are playing physically on the CP4 Stage.

You can reprogram your FC1 to send Super Knob on a per Performance basis
From your Performance HOME screen:
Press [EDIT]
Touch “Control” > “Control Number” > set FC1 = Super Knob

Select PART 9
Touch “Part Setting” > “General” > highlight Part 9 VOLUME
Press [Control Assign] which glowing
It will ask you to move a controller to make the assignment
Move the Super Knob

Obviously we don’t know what else is programmed in the particular programs you have selected, but the Super Knob addresses (or can address) any, and all Parts, whether or not those Parts are under KBD CTRL.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful, I followed the instructions and it works. I really should go through all the lessons and learn more about the Superknob. There's still so much to discover with these products... 🙂
