I have CUBASE now where MODX footswitch will start/stop and punchin/punchout transport of CUBASE.
Problem now is no matter what i try in CUBASE setup generic controller or MODX,
both pedals operate exactly the same in CUBASE transport.
Both pedals operate start/stop/punchin/out.

I need the MODX footswitch to control CUBASE transport, and it does,
but i need the MODX damper pedal to not operate the CUBASE transport controls and just function as a normal damper pedal.

Many thanks to anyone with any info on this subject.

What do you have "FS Assign" (CC number) set to? "Play/Stop"? Or something else? If it's 64 then that would be indistinguishable from the sustain pedal. I'm not sure what the actual CC values is for "Play/Stop" - I'd have to hook up my keyboard, set it to this, and look at the MIDI traffic to see. It would be strange if the CC for this was 64 - usually they stay away from standard CCs - but you never know.

Hi Jason,
thanks for the reply.

I have tried every footswitch control number in MODX, and only the cc 64 works for both pedals in CUBASE.

Maybe there is something I missed but I think YAMAHA put the footswitch pedal and the damper pedal on the same cc.

If that is the case then YAMAHA needs to fix this bizzare midi implementation.

Worst case is I would have to buy a USB footswitch if I cannot get CUBASE controlling both pedals independently,
but I really do wish I could figure this midi problem out.

Its the not knowing that bugs me, lol.

The Foot Switch is assignable. You can set it to any CC Number 1-95, or select one of the internal engine functions. The Sustain pedal is dedicated — it has a dedicated jack and is fixed at cc64.

It is always the simple things that elude me, lol.

I got it working now.
I forgot to match both the MODX and CUBASE midi cc numbers.

The control number for CUBASE to remote the MODX footswitch is 1.

Many thanks Jason and Bad Mister.
and Greg Ondo from the CUBASE live stream yesterday.

I get by with a little help from my friends.:D 😀 😀
