Hello,
Hoping someone can recommend an android app for tablet or phone that can display in realtime the lyrics stored in the midi file of the midi song being played on Montage (or any yamaha keyboard for that matter). Is there even such a thing?
Many thanks 🙂
You know that arrangers exist yes?
If yes then then PSR ,Tyros ,or Genos will do.
Dale,
Don't know if MIDI Voyager Pro is suitable - $5.99 Google Store (nothing to do with developer!!)
Just from reading the specs - USB Midi Out/ Midi In, plays .kar and .mid files etc
I think though you'd play the file on the android device and have the midi sent to the keyboard.
Not an Android person so don't really know about all the apps available.
Obviously they need to be midi karaoke files with the lyrics already embedded, unless you were going to input the lyric text data yourself.
A stated above the arrangers have the ability to display text lyrics and score for the selected channel - you can even send the display to a larger external monitor.
Other option is a midi file player like VanBascos on a laptop and route output to keyboard.
I went through a phase with my PSR-S910 with Vocal Harmony and Tune 1000 midi karaoke files !!
Regards,

Yes I sure do Leon! I already have a Tyros5 and am now considering a Montage for the vast sound creation and better sounds.
Maybe the Genos is for me - on that note, does anyone know how much waveform of preset sounds there are on the Genos vs Montage (I'm wondering how sound quality compares).

Thanks for the suggestions James - only thing I'm concerned about with using an app to send the midi to the keyboard is that it may not support some MIDI files designed specifically for Tyros (that I already have) etc, and MIDI's I've edited via Tyros inbuilt sequencer etc. I guess $6 isn't much and I can give it a try 🙂
I've got a Tyros 5 and a Montage and while the Montage was designed for sound creation, modification and play, the Tyros 5 and now the Genos have many SA (expressive articulation) sounds that are far superior IMHO. The new Genos adds more SA sounds, new DSP effects and 32 bit DAC outputs to further enhance the sound experience. I recommend you hear it for yourself. I'm getting one next week.
Of course it all comes down to what your needs are.

Apologies for that I have Montage and I played Genos it says double of tyros pcm i.e 1.5 gig but it sounds much better than 1.5 gig so I don't know what they did possible effects help a lot A/D converters and that incorporated ssd is suspicious in a good way but is not Montage to me Genos is Bentley and Montage a Ferrari.
