Is there a way to get the arp function turned off using the assignable switch pedal port? I play a song where near the end I retard and can't get the arp to follow me, so I want to stop with a pedal switch.

Yes.
You need a momentary (FC4/5 type) Foot Switch. Connect it to the Assignable Foot Switch jack.
Press [UTILITY]
Touch "Settings" > "MIDI I/O"
Set the Foot Switch "FS Assign" = ARP SW
