I wonder, when will Yamaha release a budget friendly, stripped down version of the Montage, similar to what they did with the MO/MOX/MOXF.
If they did released a cheaper alternative of the Montage, I predicted that it will have these features.
(Note that these are just my opinions)

- 4 Operators FM Engine, or maybe No FM Engine at all
- All AWM2 sounds from the Montage (128 Notes Polyphony)
- Super Knob (probably made of a cheaper material than the one on the montage, and no glowing/pulsating lights)
- Same old, shitty screen of the MOXF; or if Yamaha wants to go beyond their limits, they might release a bigger screen, like the one on the Tyros 5/CVP701/PSR-S970 (not touchscreen, but colored)
- Seamless Sound Switching (if they included this, it will be really great, as there are almost no keyboards with the price between $1000-$2000 that had this feature)
- No Faders, or maybe 4 faders, like the ones on the MO/MOTIF Classic/MOTIF ES
- GHS Keybed for the 88 key version, and same unweighted keybed of the MOXF for the 61 key version
- No Sequencer (this clearly depends on Yamaha)
- Maximum of 8 Performances in Layer Mode? (Montage has 16)

I also wonder what will Yamaha call this board if they did released it. Probably MON? or something else?

I'd just wait and spring for either a used EBay unit, demo or scratch & dent Montage 6 probably around $2,000. It would smoke any dumbed down Montage version that they can come up with.
