If I show a chord progression of C - F - G and I want to note that F is a 1st inversion and G is a second inversion, how is this noted?? F/A would be A in the Bass (left hand) and not a first inversion.... no?

Not really a Montage or Yamaha question. Just generic notation question.

Slash chords for the bass should be sufficient if bass movement is mainly what you are concerned about.

If you really wanted to dictate/spell out the inversion, you can use figured bass notation. 6/3 (or just abbreviate to 6) for 1st inversion. 6/4 for 2nd inversion. And use of roman numerals instead of note letter.

That's a way.

Or it may be OK to just spell out what you want. Cmaj (1st inv)

Depends somewhat on your audience.

Always if there's any ambiguity in the chord symbols - spelling out with notes in the staff would work too.

If you mean a chord made from tones C-F-G, this is written as C4, and it is quartal type of chord. The first inversion is F-G-C, can be written as F2, and the second inversion is G-C-F (quartal chord), can be written as G7/4 (but then there's also D) or C4 on G, or F2 on G.
