External monitor function is not officially supported by the Montage. You are very much on your own if and when you attempt to do this. And please understand, it does place a strain on your instrument. There are no settings to change, it is NOT an officially supported function.

and if i can't use No Android Device, No Pc Yet and at The End no Monitor to....
So why You didn't putted a tilting display like on Your Tyros???
Sorry Your Slogan is the New Era Keyboard..
Then No Wifi, No Bluetooth, No Lan, No Hdmi out, No Vga Out,
No Hodl Button on Arp player,no ssd 2 tb, no advanced sequencer ecc ecc...
Is a really nice Keyboard no doubt but at least you could make it complete....
Everyone are asking for this...
Have a nice day....

By the way i think also if the keyboard was costing 1000 euro more no one would complain if it was complete...

No, I have heard from the engineers, this is not officially supported. That's official. I don't argue with them. You are on your own. Please be careful in experimenting with devices you plug into your Montage.

These have nothing to do with why we don't have a tilted screen like Tyros 5 on Montage. Totally unrelated. No "follow the bouncing ball" lyric animation on Montage, it's an entirely different customer.
For the Motion Control Synth Engine the Montage has the correct screen, in my opinion.

I really think the features serve the customer for Montage, perhaps it is not for you, at this time. If you find Tyros 5 more appealing perhaps it is the right keyboard for you.

Montage is first and foremost, a synthesizer. And in the area of programmability, the feature set on the Montage serves this purpose. Sorry, if it does not fit your needs.

Hi, to be sure that your 3 different device work, or not work.
1) connect you device to the usb to device port when the montage is off.
2) turn on your montage and wait it boot completly.
3) connect your screen.to the device.

The device with DisplayLink DL-165 chipset work fine for me, if one of your device have this chipset, try it in priority and respect the order of connexion.

It's this one, perhaps you have the same but you do not done the same connexion order than me :

https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B019OKZ0D8/ref=pe_386181_137472591_TE_dp_1

Like Phil explain, it's not officialy supported, so at you how risk to test and try.

I agree with you Auriak, I have recently upgraded from the Tyros 2 to the Tyros 5 and the tilting screen would have made life a lot easier when operating the Montage. My back hurts after an hour or so bending forward when seated trying to see what I'm pressing on the Montage screen. I don't think the arranger keyboard designers speak to the synth designers. Regarding the Tyros 5 I'm unimpressed with the tangle of wires connecting the MS05 speakers to the keyboard, they're not even all the same length.
About time Yamaha started to listen to their customers and not just tell us what features they want us to have

Do a search on this forum as there are other posts about this topic with some products that have been tested to work. "Not officially supported" when Yamaha posted the use of a monitor for the whole world to see is kind of lame. I use my monitor every time I power up the Montage. Yamaha is avoiding any liability I guess.

One thing that has to happen for this to be able to work is that I have to have the adapter powered on first (NEVER USE A USB NON-SELF-POWERED ADAPTER OR WHAT LOOKS LIKE A UBS SPLITTER). Then power up the Montage and it will send out a signal to the monitor. You've got a 60/40 shot of acquiring the signal successfully. If nothing happens but a "full green screen" then I have to reboot to get it to work. Sometimes I have to do it 3 times.

I see this procedure is different from what was posted above. I'll have to try that method to see if I get better results. I still think the Montage sends out a signal upon booting up and only then can you connect to the adapter since there's no button to press to connect.

When will there be a list of adapters that actually works with the Montage .It is very nice to have a large screen for programming.

The Dell Adapter DA100 (USB 3.0 to HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB 2.0) does not work for video, out the VGA port anyway. Didn't have a HDMI to DVI cable to try on my monitor.

The USB 2.0 port on it worked ok for my PNY memory stick however.

I am impressed by this external touch screen, apparently controlling the Montage.

Appears to be a Dell S2240T 22" Touch Screen Monitor With Touch Capability. Some users claim this monitor requires Egalax drivers and the Montage appears to have Egalax support.

There's another out of production monitor that looks the same. "P" series (same external mechanicals). It's a 23" screen.

Montage uses something called "tslib" to interact with touchscreens. Searching on tslib and monitors, I've seen users have success with the Dell E2014T monitor and tslib (not Montage and this monitor, but tslib - so YMMV).

For a less refined possibility: http://www.pollin.de/shop/dt/NTMwOTc4OTk-/Bauelemente_Bauteile/Aktive_Bauelemente/Displays/7_17_78_cm_Display_Set_mit_Touchscreen_LS_7T_HDMI_DVI_VGA_CVBS.html

This is said to use Egalax drivers.

I'm not saying any of these will work - but the youtube "demo" is interesting.

Some unofficial word may come out of this.

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
