There was a behind the synth which confirmed that this change in the architecture is, at least at the time of the recording, too evasive to implement. Too many structures depend on the fixed MIDI assignment that the cards would topple if MIDI channel assignments were decoupled from the PART number.

There's probably a solution - but a fairly definitive statement from the horse's mouth.
