Hello,
I have started using Montage Connect a bit. I can get it to initially connect and move files to and from the Montage. However, in short period of time, it shows a "not ready" message and, on the set up tab it shows "time out error". The only way I've found so far to get it to reset is to shut down Connect, turn off the Montage, then back on, and start Connect again. This is a Mac environment, with latest drivers and operating systems for everything, including the Montage. Any ideas what might be happening? Thank you!!

Your Preferences (your personal) Mac settings allow your computer to do as it pleases, tell it you don’t want it to save battery life, or screen backlight or whatever power saving settings you have implemented. If the computer goes to sleep, your MIDI connection may lapse.
Click “Setup” in Montage Connect and refresh the selection of the Port “MONTAGE”. That should bring the application back Online.
Make sure your USB icon appears in blue on the MONTAGE top line... it turns bright blue when active.
Thanks Bad Mister. I did check the USB icon, it is blue and remains blue when Connect is acting this way. I have tried refreshing the Montage port under Setup, but this does nothing. I will check the power settings....I believe the times I have seen this I have not had the charger connected, so this may be causing it. Will let you know....and thank you! BTW, really enjoying your Motif XS Conversion series - thanks

Hi Phil,
After further tinkering, this is what I have found - the issue still occurs with the power adapter on the computer and all settings set to not go to sleep. IF i open the audio/MIDI Setup window on my Mac, and if I keep it open, Connect rarely goes to Offline. If it does, and if I do a midi rescan in the MIDI setup window, Connect immediately reconnects. Weird is the the Montage Midi icon in the MIDI setup window continues to show active. Any further thoughts on this? At least I have it to a point that is workable.....
thanks much!
K
The MIDI icon? It should be set to USB when you are using MONTAGE CONNECT.
What, to you, constitutes active?
Yes, correct. I have the Montage set to USB for midi interface. When I open the audio/MIDI setup window on the Mac, the midi icon for the Montage shows active and online, with Port 1 showing Midi in and out. When Montage Connect goes offline with that time out error, the Montage icon in the Mac's audio/MIDI setup window continues to show "active" and online, but when I select the "Rescan Midi Setup" button in the setup window, Connect immediately reconnects and comes online. So it seems like it is something in that USB midi pipeline, likely on the Mac side? But I haven't a clue what it might be.....
Thanks for taking a look!!!

If the connection works for some time, then fails, then comes back again - maybe you have a bad cable or a bad port on your Mac. Wiggling the cable should force the issue.
You say you tried everything but I didn't see you tried a brand new certified USB 2.0 cable.

Good idea. Will try both of those. Thanks for the help so far!!!

Well, Mr. Bad Mister, you hit the nail on the head. I swapped out USB cables, and now not a glitch. Thank you@!! That was a great tip.
Best...
