I am the lucky owner of a Montage M 7. My dream is to copy my 64 patterns from my Motif Xf into. Is that operation possible?
The same with performances. I tried, but failed so far!

Performances should be compatible according to the Operations doc.
It may depend on the file type you used when you saved your performances from the Motif XF.
The current doc doesn't specify but the doc for the old montage (page 176) shows that .X3A (User voice, arpeggio and waveform), .X3V (user voice and waveform), .X3G (user arpeggio) and .X3W (User waveform) files can be loaded
I'm not sure but I don't believe patterns can be loaded directly unless you saved them as MIDI files - those can be loaded.

So you believe that I can export patterns as midi - files onto a usb, and the load them into the montage. Then the Motif patterns will be converted into Montage Performances??

Patterns and Performances are two different things.
A pattern is MIDI that uses a performance to express itself. You need both the pattern and the performance to use it with.
You never told us if you loaded your performances into the new instrument.
