PLS HELP! PART VOLUMES WILL NOT SHUT OFF

Example: Strings & Brass performance.
Parts 1 & 2 Strings lower to off.
Parts 3,4,5 Horns will not unless I go into effects and shut dry volume which in turn makes the part useless.
Lastly, I would like to control each parts volume only with a corresponding SLIDER and save it as such. Any tips?
thank you in advance!

When “Part Volume” is assigned to a specific controller, the Slider position is overridden. This is normal.

In “Strings & Brass” Performance, the strings in Parts 1 and 2 sound normally, the brass horn Parts 3, 4, and 5 have been programmed to follow the Super Knob/FC2 position. When the Super Knob position is minimum, the brass sound is zero... you can control the brass independent of the strings. Each of the Brass Parts has one of its Assign Knobs linked to the position of the Super Knob (which can be moved, hands-free, with a Yamaha FC7 pedal plugged into Foot Controller 2).

Think of the Sliders as Faders on the Performance’s mixer... think of the Assign Knob assignments that have been programmed to control the horn “volume” outputs, as a control at the instrument itself. You are controlling the amount of “air” going into the brass horns — allowing the Super Knob to create brass swells independent from the Strings in Parts 1 and 2. (The Strings in Part 6 only sound when the Assign Switches 1 or 2 is activated) and are specific articulations).

Within each Part, MONTAGE allows the programmer to ‘perform’ the Part Volume by assigning it a controller. Naturally, this volume control precedes the signal going to the Performance Mixer.

If you wish to return Part Volume to the Sliders you can do so by deleting the Control Set responsible for this, as follows:

From the HOME screen
Select the Part you wish to edit... Press [PART SELECT 3]
Press [EDIT]
Touch “Mod/Control” > “Control Assign”
Set the “Display Filter” to “All”

There are 16 possible Control Assign “Destinations” — four are shown per Page
You are looking for “Destination” = Volume”
Move the cursor to highlight that “Destination” — the settings for this Control Set will be shown.
Tap the box “Delete” to remove this assignment. The corresponding Slider will return as the Part’s mixer volume.

Repeat for the Brass in Part 4 and Part 5.

Extra Credit:
MONTAGE allows the player to communicate with as many as 8 Parts simultaneously via the Keyboard. In order to provide individual control over each Part, the massive Control matrix allows you to create 16 Source/Destination assignments (Control Sets) per Part. Not only can you control each Part, you can design exactly how and by how much each will change according to your controlling gesture.

The tutorial articles on basic programming will take you through how this works and why it is what makes the system so powerful. The Super Knob can actually address all 16 Parts, while the Keyboard can trigger a maximum of 8 Parts, simultaneously. Each of the 16 Parts has 8 Part Assign Knobs which can be moved directly when the Part in question is *selected* or it can be linked to the upper level set of Assign Knobs that can follow the Super Knob. Each Control Set can be individual programmed to amount, direction, intensity

This allows you to - with a single gesture - send different commands to the various individual Parts and have each respond exactly as you determine by the Control Set settings.
