The montage screen is being displayed on what appears to be a computer monitor or large iPad in this video:
https://youtu.be/KYD-5QOHgog
Is this capability currently supported by montage⦠And if so how do you do it?
If this capability is not currently supported, is there plans to support in the future?
This would be great to have .. It looks like a TV he has on video.. I found no info on this !! π
When I bought my Tyros 5 I got a free dongle with it and that enables me to connect wirelessly to an iPad - I wonder what would happen if I plugged it into the back of the Montage.....probably nothing!
Edit...as I suspected...nothing....doesn't even recognise it as a USB device
The T5 can be used to display lyrics, music scores etc. I've only seen Atch use a camera on his demo but when he reaches to touch the screen there is clearly no camera recording his hand touching the screen. Looks like it is possible somehow.
Yes, I would have that enlarged remote screen on mine in an instant since I don't like to squint. Please someone let us know!

I don't really see a remote screen app anywhere but perhaps it's in the works.
And this....
Is this capability currently supported by montage⦠And if so how do you do it?
Obviously, this is supported. We used such a connection during the recent Montage training tour so we could project the Montage screen onto a large screen. I'll see if I can get a list of compatible adapters and devices that we can publish. But just a warning, not all such USB to VGA or USB to HDMI adapters are compatible. Don't go spending money only to find the one you got doesn't work. Let us test them and publish a list of compatible devices.
Yes thanks. Please send me a USB to HDMI compatible adapter model if anyone knows of one currently.
Also, does this connect to "USB to Host" or "USB to device" since those interfaces are different. As "USB to device" says that only flash drives are accepted which only leaves "USB to host" which doesn't sound correct either.
If "USB to host" then you'd need a gender changer like this one because all the adapters I see only have the typical type "A" interface.
Please. There is no such thing as "To Hoist" (sic)... You mean "To Host", and that would be to connect to a computer or iPad.
The USB to VGA, or USB to HDMI would be connected to the TO DEVICE port, of course.
Boy I sure need some rest. Good, no gender changer required. The instructions specifically state "flash drive only" for the "USB to device" interface which wouldn't include any adapter but then I assume they are not addressing this feature but only storage devices. Thanks!
I've never been one to wait. I'm trying the "Plugable USB 2.0 to VGA / DVI / HDMI Video Graphics Adapter for Multiple Monitors up to 1920x1080P" from Amazon. I'll report back on the results.
Not having a go at BM, but I think his comments show what Yamaha have left out of the Montage documents (on purpose??) or may be incorrect.
"Obviously, this is supported. We used such a connection during the recent Montage training tour so we could project the Montage screen onto a large screen."
Nowhere is it stated in any of the Montage documents that an external monitor can be connected, unlike the PSR/Tyros with their dedicated output RCA/VGA sockets
Please. There is no such thing as "To Hoist" (sic)... You mean "To Host"....
I'm still trying to find the statement that this refers too.... We do have a "Hills Hoist" (rotary clothesline) which was developed and produced here in Australia π
The USB to VGA, or USB to HDMI would be connected to the TO DEVICE port, of course
Page 54 of the Montage Owner's Manual clearly states - Other USB devices such as a USB hub, computer keyboard or mouse cannot be used.
Not having a return go at you James π but, David corrected his "To Hoist" comment (which he made twice), and it is not compatible with every adapter devices, so I don't want people to spend money experimenting to find one that works. If all of them worked I'm sure it would be documented. I believe the Plugable adapter is the one we discovered worked, but your mileage may vary. The Tyros has a VGA out so that fact is documented, I'm sure it is not in Montage manuals because Not every adapter does work - and it's not a feature of the product. You are free to do what you wish... I'm not really clear on your point. I'm just trying to not send people on wild goose chases...
Just for fun I tried an old StarTech USB to DVI I had laying around. Has the green bar at the bottom but works. I haven't played with any settings yet was just curious to see it up. I would wait for the official listing of compatible devices before using this officially.
