There are some threads about it in this forum, you just need to go back and find them. It's not in the manual because it's not supported or recommended. There was also a thread here or Motifator with a list of all the supported devices -- just start digging back, you'll find them,

My Montage stays in my Home Studio, as I don't play out. I have sitting it on a regular synth stand. I wanted to easily move it when I'm not using it so I mounted casters on the front to legs of the stand allowing it to easily roll by picking up slightly the other end of the stand. One side benifit is that the screen is also tilted and easy to see.

If you add some spacers to the front of the synth to tilt it, this might solve your issue with the screen without having to add another monitor.

Hello Scott and Walt - I did find an earlier discussion that sort of petered out rather unsatisfactorily - it would seem that Yamaha dropped a clanger in failing to provide a means of doing something they'd done before that many people found useful (we don't all have 20/20 vision, unfortunately) - and then made it worse, inexplicably, by providing only one USB port apparently dedicated to nothing more than a USB memory stick. However, there would seem to be some doubt about that, which I intend to pursue and report back in due course.

A major reason for wanting a bigger repeater screen, Walt, is not only the inconvenience of continually leaning over, but also less than perfect vision. The Montage screen is remarkably clear, but it is also small, so that text and icons are not as clearly made out as they might be. My Montage sits on an adapted old kitchen table, both heavy and hard to move, not amenable to castors or blocks, and if I block up the back legs of the Montage I would have to move the computer screen back out of range of my reading glasses! So leaning forward again!

I would appeal to Yamaha to address this issue as a 'must have' priority for any updates in the pipeline.

Why didn't Yamaha adopt the Tyros tilting screen but put a touch screen in it? It's bigger too.

Don't get your hopes up. Phil was saying something about connecting a monitor via the USB not being good for the Montage or something to that effect.

What I *do* see is an editor for PC/MAC where you can edit just about every parameter. Then you can put it on a screen as large as you wish... and no green bar!

Hello Michael, and Wow! Those two links solve the problem and suggest other useful options too - like you can use a USB hub as well, and it'll still work fine. But must be USB 2 - not USB 3, evidently the Montage architecture was finalised in the dim and distant past and can't be up-dated in that respect. But OK, compromise is OK. The mystery of the big green bar at the bottom of the monitor remains though. Scott's hopes for an editor is another option, but that depends on Yamaha ... certainly the editor for the Tyros 3 was no good, as it could not be made bigger on screen and was therefore unusable. As to Peter's question - well, who knows? - and only one USB port - Tyros 3 has two and that was years ago. It seems that the developer teams at Yamaha don't speak to each other ... but we live in Hope! Still like the Montage, but it does have failings ...

Sorry Michael, meant to ask - if your monitor screen has two inputs (VGA and DVi) so that you can connect both your computer and the Montage - how do you switch between them, please?

On this topic a little while ago, Scott commented on the possibility of a computer editor for the Montage - can I ask Bad Mister/Phil if this is a real possibility for the near future? It would render a screen repeater unnecessary - but I find the continual leaning over to see the Montage screen (even though I have it tilted) is more than a nuisance, and have established the 3 items required to repeat the Montage screen on the PC screen - at a cost! So if waiting a while makes it unnecessary I'd like to know, please! Incidentally Michael (I asked you how you switch from the PC to the Montage and back) the third item is a switch to swap between the Montage and the PC, which turns out to be readily available.
