Hello - I use a remote Dell monitor with my Montage 7, have done for a year now. When I updated to v2.50 I unplugged it and put the updater USB directly into the USB to Device port in order to format it - but the Montage touch screen would not respond. Nothing at all. From 'Performance Search' I could get to 'Utility' using the Utility button - but could not get to 'Contents' on the screen - it just reverted to 'Performance Search' all the time. I tried with a finger and a stylo - same result. Is this normal? Will the touch screen ever work again?

“Calibrate Touch Panel
Calls up the Calibration display for the Touch Panel. Calibration of the touch panel may be necessary if the touch panel does not respond correctly.”
Hello Bad Mister - of course! Thank you - I'll give that a go when opportunity arises. I put it all together again and did the formatting via the Dell - I use a powered hub for the USBs but took out my back-up'n'store USB just in case! All went perfectly, but v2.50 (what happened to 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4?) is of little value to me, unhappily. The Motif presets are useful as I can forget loading and deleting all the time. I know you advocate a DAW, but I just can't get on with them at all. I am progressing with programming Elements, but despite your encouragement (and exce4llent articles) I find FM-X to be an uphill battle.
I did a full Back-up (X7A) and saved my User files as well - but after the v2.50 update all my files were still there, exactly as before. Surprised me, but quite happy. The blurb warned all but the presets would be overwritten, as usual - but they weren't. Does that sound OK to you? Everything is working normally ... stay well dear Sir ...

The warning should read something along the lines: assume all user content will be deleted, so backup all data (instead of your data WILL be deleted, which is incorrect).
