Uneven Square LFO (common)

so I'm trying to recreate the synth sound from Fox On The Run by Sweet at the very beginning of the song. I've successfully done this on my Kronos, but I'm having an issue with the Montage. I started with an init AWM, put a saw in part 1, element 1. Initially I tried a single note arpeggiator to create the 16th note repeated pattern but it didn't sound right to me. I think I tried the same thing on the Kronos and had no luck. I remembered that I had used a square LFO applied to the amp feature on the Kronos, so I tried the same thing on the Montage, and to my dismay the rhythmical nature of the square LFO is uneven. If I sync at 1/4 it sounds evenly spaced, at 1/8 it begins to sound rhythmically uneven. I applied this LFO in the Common section, I am playing around with the Element LFO now and it sounds much more even, but it doesn't "sync" to tempo. I can only control a numeric speed value. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Is the modulation uneven if you sync at 1/4 and double the tempo?

Something like this: LFO or motion sequence should work. The tempo is listed somewhere as 128 and 16th notes @ 128bpm should be within the range of what motion sequence can do.

Even an arpeggio should work but I would think a control arp would be better than a note-based one.

It sounds more like frequency modulation than amplitude. At least at the beginning. Near the end (of the intro) it takes on more of an amplitude modulation - but this may also be just that the modulated pitch is sub-sonic and still pitch modulated. The pitch modulation is adjusted more-or-less continuously.

Hello,
I didn't know this song, so I went to Youtube and listen to it.
First, I'm using "Enhancer for Youtube" Firerox module, where I can slow down the video speed (at 50%). It's easier to listen to the very first synth sound.

On this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRv7EjjwYBI ) we can see the guitarist playing on ARP Odyssey !
The Odyssey is a simple analog synth. So it would be simple to reproduce it on AL-1 Kronos engine or in the Montage :

In the video, there is one sound only : the VCF is self-oscillating. So the LFO Sine wave modulates the Cutoff frequency with high level resonance.
On another video, on the very beginning, there is a first sound, VCO based whose volume is modulated by the LFO (tremolo) as the VCF frequency. Then, the filter resonance is increased up to self-ocillating.

That's what you have to reproduce on Montage : one Part with one Element : a Sawtooth wave filtered with a 4 poles analog filter (LPF24A), a triangle LFO ( Oddly, there is no Sine wave LFO in the Montage !!) as Modulation source, two modulation destinations (amplitude and cutoff frequency), an Assign knob as modulation source and the filter resonance level as modulation destination. so, by turning the "resonance knob" you progressively increase the self-oscillation of the filter.

That way, It should do the trick.

If you need a self-oscillating filter, you don't typically find that it boards that are not analog or VA... but you do find that it the Montage via the VCM Mini Filter effect.

Or if you're not as concerned with authenticity - you can combine portamento and the original amplitude gating to create something close enough without the frequency modulating "whistle" effect.

I didn't have a problem using square waves (there are lots of them with different duty cycles) at 1/16 timing.
