Hello, I would need your help.
I want to create a setup like this:
1. I want it to consist of 4 sounds.
2. I want to use my XF with a controller, but only to gain a second keyboard - the XF should be the only sound generator.
3. The first 2 sounds should be playable from the XF and the second 2 from the additional keyboard.
I know that this is pretty basic, but I can't figure out how to go about it. Am I correct that I should use Master Mode for this?
I'm new to the Yamaha world and some of the concepts still seem somewhat complicated to me. Master Mode is definitely one of these. No matter how many times I read the articles about it, I'm still confused. I think I'm getting closer, but unfortunately I'm still not close enough.
Many thanks and sorry again for such a basic question.

No. Master mode is for when you want to use the XF as the master keyboard. You clearly state you want to use it as "sound generator"... which means you want to use something else as your master keyboard.

The mode you want to use is one of the two SEQUENCER modes: Song or Pattern. This will allow you to select multiple sounds and place them on the MIDI channels that you desire.

Press [SONG]
Press [MIXING]
Now you can select the sounds you wish to use. Say you want to play Parts 1 and 2 from the XF keys - set them both to MIDI RECEIVE CHANNEL 1
Set the Parts 3 and 4 to whatever MIDI CHANNEL your external controller is set to send.

Press [EDIT]
Press [1] to view Part 1 parameters
Press [F1] VOICE
Press [SF1] VOICE
set the Receive Channel
In turn press the [2], [3] and [4] and set your channels as necessary
Press [STORE]

That should get you started.

Thank you, Bad Mister.
I can't test it right now, but I'm sure it will work just fine.
