posted question referenced presets and performances and I was in error in thinking there were preset performances in addition to User banks. My bad. Too many hours in front of board today

No worries. All Performances are in USER customizable memory... After all, this is where you can create Splits and Layers. It would be a serious downer if the factory fixed the split points for you... Split points should always be user's choice!
