Hi, I remember I saw this somewhere either here or on motifator but I can't find it anymore. Is it possible if someone tells me what +/- stands for in a waveform? For example in the waveforms for String/Violin... there is a + and - in the waveform name.
Thanks!
It has to do with the direction in which the sample is used when stretched across a key range... In the wave ROM of the XF stereo was often accomplished by combine mono left and mono right, if the sample was mapped so it was being stretched across a range of notes the -/+ indicate in which direction that pitch stretching goes... It has to do with phase issues... In general, combine waveforms so that sound good.
Combining samples is mostly subjective but to avoid phase issues you want to be aware of how the harmonics interact within the combination.
