when I try to use the remote editor, I go to set up and midi port only says "not assigned" there is no option for "moxf6/moxf8".
everything is connected correctly and when I use it in daw remote mode with cubase it all works fine... im stumped, any help would be appreciated

To really get help with any computer related issue you need to provide the computer type, operating system, version of the software you are attempting to use, and the name and version of the driver you've installed. Also saying "the latest" is really not helpful unless all the above information is provided... because "the latest" may or may not be what you need (in all cases).
You need to download and install the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver for your computer type and operating system, in addition to the REMOTE TOOLS.
