I want to load some tempo maps into song locations on my MOXF8 that are pretty fluid - as in a lot of tempo changes. Is it possible? I didn't see anything on it in the Reference. If so, how would I do it? Much appreciated, Shep

I'm not sure I know what you mean about loading a tempo map... but you can certainly create a tempo map in the MOXF Song Sequencer. The MOXF Sequencer is actually 18 Tracks, most people only pay attention to the sixteen MIDI Tracks that hold Note data, but there is a Track that documents automation in the way of Scene changes and Track Mutes; and there is Track dedicated to Tempo changes.

Tempo changes can be recorded in realtime or you can step enter them into the dedicated TMP Track, additionally you can have the MOXF calculate tempo changes for you (Create Control Data) by setting a range of measures and adjusting the Rate of change and Offset. (Page 93 in the Reference Manual)

The tempo map can be created before or after you record. If you create the change before hand, be sure you use Record type OVERDUB... when adding your new tracks... so the click can be used as reference... you can also create Time Signature changes as well...

Hi Mister, Thanks much for chiming in! I made a number of songs in Studio One software that have fluid tempos. I played some real bass and Steven Slate Drums on them, and VSL strings. These are for live performance support. I made .mp3s of these tracks which I want to place in my 1GB board. To have them play in time along with the other tracks I will record on the MOXF, I need the original tempo map. it will serve to make punching in/out happen on beat one for me, as opposed to trying to find one every time and have the count in be off from the recorded tracks. I have a standard midi file of the tempo map I want to import to the card and place into a song, but don't know how/where to place it to control the tempo. Please advise, and thanks very much, Shep

You can load the .mid file to a Song location of the MOXF Sequencer.
Press [FILE]
Set TYPE = SONG
Highlight your .mid file title
LOAD

I am loading the .MID file into a Song location. It's been 15 minutes so far, and still loading. There are a lot of changes in it (about 400 - 1 per beat, 100 measures). Is this seems exorbitant for being such a small amount of data, memory wise. I also made a wav file of tracks I want to load into the expansion. It loaded successfully into location 81, and I set key A-1 to play it. I loaded it into a Voice, but no key will play it, and I checked the range limit, adsr, volume, all I can think of for a reason it's not playing. I have 700MB of instrument wavs in use, so I'm fairly sure I have a handle on operations. Scratching the ol' bean tonight.

I further thought I's try to load the SMF I made of the drums, thinking I might be able to extract tempo from it once inside the MOXF. Like the tempo file, it's been loading over 20 minutes, and no end in sight. Now I know why. Presonus saves as SMF1, not 0.

On a good note, I put the midi drum file into Sonar, and saved it as SMF type 0. I was able to load it into the MOXF. But, it's back to being a fixed tempo of 68 in MOXF, so it doesn't follow the tempo . This is close to the tempo but all the swing goes out of it.But, the file plays back very phasey. As I said, there's many tempo changes. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I tried pulling the control data from the beginning of the track * RPN,LPN All notes off, etc. but it had no effect. So, I'm kinda lost about that now. I appreciate your efforts on my behalf!
